Talk about whatever you want to here, but stay correct

Hi everyone, I just started listening to Devin Townsend and of course my mind is blown.
His greatness is very overwhelming. As a musician I feel like I have to absorb/learn all the aspects of his great songs but there are too many of them. And I've only listened to Ghost and Addicted so far. As soon as I heard Feather I opened Cubase and starting replicating the whole song. I shall listen to Deconstruction and Ki next.

Peace to you.

I just listened to Deconstruction and HOLY SHIT CHEESEBURGER.. .WOW...!!! UNBELIEVABLE. I was actually so lost in the music that I dropped my ipod. Devin is officially my favorite musician ever.

Thanks for the welcome and sampler. I'm more of a listen to the whole album or nothing person. :)

Thanks a lot.

Though it shames me, I have to download the music I listen to. As an underage kid here in Egypt I can't have a credit card and there's no paypal here. Not to mention that I don't have much money. And with the type of parents I have I'd never be able to use their credit cards for music. Sorry for rambling. But I'll most definitely buy the CD/Merchandise collection in the future and create a Devin Townsend shrine wherever I'm living :)

I guess I'll take it slow then. Wouldn't wanna burn through all the material at once. Thank you

Yeah, the discovering is almost the best part! I kind of wish I could do it again. lol

My favorite thing in the world would have to be walking at night while listening to such music. Ghost is great for walking late at night, most of Addicted as well. Don't think Deconstruction would work though. Ki is an album I'm looking forward to.

That is a good approach, i think. Take your time, there is indeed much to discover. Don't worry about downloading, Devin has said many times that he has no problem with it (don't wanna start this discussion again, just sayin).

I'll stay out of the downloading discussion!

Just wanted to agree with you that walking at night is just about the best way to listen to music.

The most memorable music experience of my life was listening to Ocean Machine while wandering aimlessly on a moonless, starry night. Bastard took off and I was just about overwhelmed by the beauty of it.

On an unrelated issue, I wish Egypt all the best. From what we've been told and shown it's been a difficult time.

Thanks a lot Juz! Everything is pretty much back to normal now.

I have a question that I didn't know where to put: Will Devin Townsend continue to play his previous albums live in the future? I understand that he does shows where just plays Ghost for example. Will he continue to do that? It might be years until I get the chance to see him so I'm a bit worried.

Nah, the shows where he plays one album in full is fairly exclusive. The 'regular' shows contain a selection of most of his previous albums as well. Take a look in the Live Reviews section to find some setlists and/or videos.

Hmm.. well I hope he decides to do more of these exclusive shows in the future.
