My granny always said, "Never trust a man with a beard!" Presumably there was a good reason for this but I don't know what it is.

My wife's Grandpa used to say similar things. Something like "a man with a beard has something to hide, and can't be trusted."

It must be something from the late 1800s or early 1900s. I need to research this now.
