That must be Arseshock..or what does it mean? Congratz if the reviever was not your friend and if it was congratulations to your friend. :)

Earth shock, actually. Would've been arse shock if they said nasty things. :P Reviewer isn't anyone we know, although we'd like to be superbest friends with him now.

Didn't anyone ever tell you not to take any notice of reviews?

I take it you only got bad ones. :P

To be honest, it's a nice thing to have now that we're trying to get a label's support to record our next effort. Of course we've had some bad experiences with reviews too, notably in band contests which as it turned out were mostly friends voting for a friend's band. I've been with this band for 7 years now, we're not about to radically change the music we write/play just because a reviewer said something bad.

I didn't read them.

It's not the bad reviews that you should worry about (unless you are Morbid Angel) It's setting too much store by the good reviews that is where the problems lie.

^ Hmmm, interesting point. What kind of problems though? Too high expectations which we might not be able to live up to or something?

More like you start chasing what other people think rather than making material for yourselves

I see. I doubt reviews play a role in any of our writing processes, except our own self-criticism. I know it doesn't play a role for me, because it takes me months to come up with anything remotely finished. What one person thought about something at one moment in time is then pretty much forgotten. Like a ripple in a pond decays over time. *cringe*

But enough about us now. Plenty of other awesomeness to be discussed I assume? :)

First morning of a three day weekend.

It's only a minor blip in the bigger scheme of things but right now it feels pretty awesome.

JuZ have you read the ASOIAF series? What do you think of it?

Interesting question. And the short answer is no, I haven't.

The long answer is that a couple of years ago I picked up the first book, having heard great things. By the time I was getting around to reading it I saw a doco on the (then) upcoming TV series and it looked SO good that I thought I'd wait, watch an episode or two, then most likely read the series as I almost always prefer to read the books first before any screen adaptation.

The show was so well done that as it stands I'm prepared to wait (and wait and wait) for the TV series to unfold and then go back and read the books. Given I have very little patience, that's a hard thing to do as the books keep calling me from the shelf!

Have you read the books? And what's your opinion on the series vs the books?
