Lemons are your "SYL"

Modding a board of miscreants with an iron fist is your "Deconstruction"

Lots of folks really loved SYL. They didn't want it to be over then, and still are hoping.

Decon was as close as it was going to get.

It's not SYL. Some people were going to pissed no matter what.

Decon is totally more my kind of metal than SYL was. SYL is for putting in the headphones while working out. Decon is so much more...put I'm a prog head so little surprise.

FWIW, the most "authentic" SYL song and about the only one I put on anymore is SYL from HaaRHT.

I think I read that right :)

Here in Georgia we a plethora of good peaches, so it's like having tiny balls of deconstruction falling off trees. That's what he was trying to get at, right?...

See, I can eat a lemon fine...but put a kiwi fruit near me and it's over. :|

Lots of people forget that music isn't tailor made to fit their approval...unless they're making it themselves. Enjoy it or sulk; just don't have a go at the people who did make it :P

I usually think of Dev's albums as having a specific colour to them (as I've heard a lot of other people do with their preferred musicians), but perhaps it's time to start thinking of them as fruits.

But then it becomes a question of am I assigning the album to the fruit, or the fruit to the album, or just relating them for no reason. Ocean Machine doesn't sound like mandarins, mandarins don't taste like Ocean Machine, but mandarins are my ol' reliable fruit fallback that I could eat an infinite amount of anytime, anywhere and never get sick of.

Deconstruction is hard to define. I guess at the moment it's a watermelon. Not one of those girly quarter slices though, the full thing. Saying you're going to eat that whole watermelon is a big commitment, most people aren't up to it, and if you're going to do it you'll need a calm, comfortable environment with no distractions. You will get horrible gas and probably crap yourself.

I haven't listened to Ghost enough yet, but it's pretty close to the first bite into a mango.

strangely enough, in the kitchen at work, there's a big sack of lemons with an unhappy face on the bag.

Monticarnum: I actually like HaaRHT a lot. I'd probably rank it as my third favorite SYL album, as In the Rainy Season is second to All Hail the New Flesh as far as my favorite SYL songs go. It's raw/pure, and has a lot of that 90s industrial charm to it. Also, the demos from around that era RULE. But I'll be the bad guy and say that Chickenfeather is easily my least favorite of the SYL catalogue, which in turn means of the entire HevyDevy Catalogue. Doesn't really mesh with me at all outside of Aftermath, Forcefed and Relentless. TO THE SYL BOARDS ON THIS VERY FORUM. ;)

OR to continue the awesome watermelon extravaganza: Ki is deliberating whether or not to eat the whole watermelon then deciding to dive in, Addicted is the first bit, glorious and refreshing on a hot summers day, then Decon is the difficult finish and subsequent pooping yourself from eating too much watermelon, then Ghost is the content feeling when the poop is all gone and you're strangely refreshed.
