And two final things:

1) I truly don't mind the Syl questions, it was music if emotional significance to lots of people, including me...plus, there's lots of new people who didn't get the memo, I don't want to cone across as glib...

However:

The best irony will be a pop record...

I can understand that music like SYL can get a bit to much, the tough guy image and the loyalty to ferocity. The New black wasn't as good as the other ones... so maybe it was time to quit before it got stale. I think the timing was perfect.

Deconstruction has many brutal/cathartic parts that are on level with SYL anyway + other material with the Dev bands. I've always been more of fan of Devin's solo bands anyway. Much more to be offered there.

Well, if you don't mind a question about SYL, this is one that I've been wondering about for a long time.

Can you explain the circumstances in which Oh My Fucking God was written? Lyrics, music, whatever. I just want to know what kind of mental state someone would have to be in to pull off something so full of heartfelt rage. Was it just a particularly bad day, or something more sinister?

I think I remember reading an interview with either Gene or Dev where it was said that he and Gene came up with that song on the spot just from jamming. Don't quote me though.
