I think it's the fact that Dev's handling the low end that makes this record such a beast. It just feels as though he's had much more control over the direction of the sound than on any other album.

Perhaps for 10,000 posts. Then the title is really justified. ;)

I second this motion. Would you like to forward it to the Those Who Post Way Too Much Subcommittee in Mod Parliament?

sorry to divert from such an awesome convo (the idea, by the way, is pure awesome and should happen) but I have just put decon on LOUD (it was extremely loud but decided to turn it down so as not to really fuck off the neighbours) for the first time..... thats right I'm at home on my own for the first time since decon leaked (god am I glad the better half is a nurse and works lates sometimes) and the badboi is erupting through speakers

it is absolutely superior in every single way (though most music is out loud imo).... you can hear so so much more of what is going on, even in the nuances of devs voice.

Well done Mr Townsend for such an unashamedly complex record (in so many ways!) that is catchy, fun and life affirming... I sincerely hope that, even though metal isn't your trip at the mo, you enjoy the record yourself! I really really can't wait for ghost... I really enjoyed your youtube videos of forests and your 'noodling' and am certainly sure that is the kinda vibe that ghost is gonna have.

Damn, now I'm having doubts whether I should preorder the combo coming up or wait for the box set (I fear it'll be too pricey  ). One thing's for sure... I gotta have all these bad boys :) .

As far as I can recall, Dev mentioned that there may be a version of the box-set that just contains the extra material.
The idea being that you could just place your existing CDs in it when it was eventually released.
This was way back around when Ki leaked so plans may have changed.

The Dev wrote:Florian did the arrangements for choir and orchestra, I wrote the parts.

He basically got a demo of the way I wanted it to sound with midi notation, lyrics, and me singing the choir parts, then he wrote the notes out in a way the musicians can understand.

Flo was a huge help in getting the orchestral elements lined up. It's his specialty and I would have been meekly conducting a high school band if it weren't for him.

Hail Flo!

Thanks for the response. Who is this Florian fellow?

That would be cool, but if I have to buy the boxset that comes with the albums, then so be it.

Damn, that would be AWESOME.

Shit. I've been living with the mp3 albums that I purchased from Amazon because I thought I would be able to get all 4 albums on CD with the box-set. If that's not the case I should just buy all the CDs right now.

BTW, Decon is awesome workout music. Praise the Lowered and the beginning of Stand ease you into the workout (your warmup), then when the heavy part of Stand kicks in you can powerlift about 500 lbs - just from the sheer omniscient adrenaline that you have. During the title track, you can really start sprinting hard (or pedaling fast) when the "Hit it" freakout part comes in. Really, it doesn't matter what track it is. It all keeps you pumped!
