Will recieve my Shure SRH 840 headphones tomorrow. Can't wait, cause I've never had proper audiophile quality headphones. Should be good... And with a very long life due to replacable cables and other parts.

Ha, that's exactly how it starts

Before you know it, you'll have a audio setup that's 'worth' more then your computer, just don't get sucked into the bullshit

I know... Headphone amplifiers seem to cost shitloads (basically upwards from 150€ to thousands-)... But everyone's saying that they improve the sound quality by tons! :D

->Off to test my Shure phones...

The main problem I've found with Beats headphones is that they make you look like a raging knob. It's always hip city businessmen on the tube I see wearing them; you know, just when Skullcandy wern't expensive looking enough.

I have SR60s and they are wonderful. I also have superfi5s from Ultimate Ears. The Grados were half as much and sound better sometimes. I still love the UEs though for the isolation.

I like my sennheiser hd280-pro's a lot, they're almost 3 years old (and $40 cheaper, brand new), but they still sound amazing. They tend to reveal subtle, quiet things that my speakers tend to mash in with the rest of the sound. With Devin's albums in particular, this is important to me :D

Oh boy. Not the Beats.

Beats are WAY overpriced and WAY too bass-heavy. Honestly, if you're gonna spend that kind of cash, go Grado or B&W P5s.

I totally agree, beats are just status quo, their functionality for their price does not weigh out at all.

Or you can take my route, I build my own equipment and occasionally some equipment for friends.

Since everyone's talking about headphones, this is my set up.

Image

Alessandro MS1i's. Like Grado but less bright.

paired with

Nuforce Udac 2. It's pretty great.

I also have HD555's for more laidback music and Koss KSC75's for portability.
