well after listening to ki again after decon and all i can say is." HOLLY SHIT THE MIX!!" from a audiophile standpoint ki sounds absolutely amazing!! everything has room to breathe and dynamicaly harmonize with each other thus creating a large soundstage. ki by far is the best sounding of the 3 so far. (mix wise) but when listening to ki the thing that pops out at you are the drums. you can hear them and they are punchy they literaly have a physical impact.

but ill reserve judgement on decons and ghosts mix when i get a hard copy of them

I wasn't particularly thrilled with the vocals on that first portion myself, but I don't have any issue now. The riff going on there is one of my favorites from the album.

That's my 2nd favorite part of the song :(

Interesting new review: http://www.nocleansinging.com/2011/05/16/the-devin-townsend-project-deconstruction/

I also question whether or not the record is even designed to make sense; more and more it seems to follow a linear (yet at times disjointed) story arc that speaks of the man finally letting his inner child out to play, finally and fully expressing itself, be it through raging tantrums or wistful, child-like wonder.

His vocals are absolutely crushing. I love it!

I agree, it's my favorite song on the album. Sick.

I also love the "we praise god! he lives inside of our hearts!" from Mighty Masturbator. Awesome vocals :)

And am I the only one feeling the title track is a bit unnecessary? It feels to me that the point trying to be made was already previously made in Masturbator, and therefore a bit redundant. Maybe it's just me but I just haven't been able to get into this track and it kind of takes away from the overall impact of the album.

Not trying to be a hater, I love the album, just saying. :p

The title track is my favourite song on the album, it just does it for me. I love especially the last part ("It's all bullshit..."---->).

Yes, I totally agree, that bit is such a storm of emotion.

The title track is easily the best part of the album for me by far. I really wish more of the album were at the level of chaos of the last 3 tracks - the rest of the album feels like a long buildup to that. I love Praise the Lowered, though - perfect opener.

I'm glad you guys are enjoying this track :) It's a great album, and I guess for me I just don't quite 'get' this track yet. Dev's music sometimes takes a while to click though, and this record deserves plenty more play throughs.

These days I tend to take a whole bunch of listens over some time before I really have any thoughts worth verbalising regarding Dev's work.

At this stage all I can say is that it was all a bit overwhelming on the first listen.

Several listens later I can hear some of the pieces starting to separate themselves. And what beautiful, otherworldly little pieces they are.

The most exciting thing is that it's going to take a long time to appreciate Decon on a level that it deserves.

Oh, and Stand is just magnificent. :guitar:

Hahah yes, Deconstruction the song is one of my favorite parts :D I don't think i have a truly-defined "favorite" song, but that's a good thing! I don't have a least favorite song either (I just don't think about that). The album as a whole gets better on each spin, though it's been a few days since my last spin because I'm trying not to get burned out on it before Ghost hits the market.
