I concur with this assessment. I feel that it represents a true pinnacle of achievement for Devin. I think it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I find it suits me.

I noticed that. The guitar from that part can be heard at one point in The Mighty Masturbator, too. Plus the Planet Smasher riff in Stand and By Your Command's Pound riff in TMM.. This album is full of references :v

But can somebody please point out the Numbered references people were mentioning a while back? Never could find them >.>

Pretty sure it's near the start of The Mighty Masturbator, not the intro, but the part that leads into the first heavy part, the apregios and Dev's vocal style are pretty much the exact same as the end of numbered. It's actually the first reference I caught on the album, surprised anyone could miss it. :D

^ Even the lyric "I'm alright to fly" is the same.

The "Love, love me…love, love me…LOVE, LOVE ME! LOVE!!!" part from Planet of the Apes reminds me a bit of Earth Day's "Hate, love, love, hate, love, hate...destruction!" part.

(You mean Sumeria?) I was wondering why that part stuck out to me! Either that or just cuz it's plain awesome.

Well I really, really like this album. Only weak bits for me are the second half of Deconstruction (not a huge fan of THAT level of chaos) and Pandemic. But the rest of the album is absolutely killer. "The Mighty Masturbator" is on its way to my top ten Devin songs already!

Really? for me the second half of the song Deconstruction is the climax of this album! Such a great part of the story. To me it's like that complex atonal craziness comes after the character is shown the cheeseburger to show this kind confused revelation. It sounds like the whole album and all the ideas the character has had are being unravelled (with Dev going through a list of them 'Fame, Fortune, Death... etc.') Until it reaches this moment of clarity where the character is sorry for being pretentious and arrogant, and then it's all beautiful from then on..."Take your time, enjoy the ride". One thing I didn't like so much was that even in that beautiful last part the drums were being a bit weird, but now after a few listens even that's starting to grow on me. I LOVE THIS ALBUM! :D

I kind of thought that was part of it. Like the guy is making these bold statements, but he isn't sure if he means it.

Maybe "Oh My Fucking God" from City?

I just had a fresh listen on the way home. And... yeah. Definitely "Oh My Fucking God."
