Deconstruction is amazing so far, with about forty listens. But I'm really excited for Ghost. It's what Devin felt most right playing and recording, from what I remember in his interviews. With his enthusiasm in the final product, good lord what showcase Ghost has on display. I can't wait.

Devin, thank you for making the most honest and sometimes intensely emotional music I've ever heard.

No. Until the official release date all spoiler-containing details about Deconstruction go in this thread. After the official release Deconstruction (and Ghost) will get their own subforums where you can go nuts, but for now please keep everything in this thread.

ctfod wrote:You know what? Given the number of reprises on this album, I'm suprised there isn't an Ants one (or maybe there it, but it's too well hidden for me to hear it).

Well, not a reprise per se, yet there are a couple of moments in the Deconstruction song that remind me of the spirit of "Ants" :
- From 4:09 to 4:33 there is this Beetlejuice-esque, weird fun fair sort of groove
- From 5:29 to 6:13 the nonsense arpeggios from Hell definitely remind me of the ones in "Ants"

Anyone else?

I think it'd be cool to see one for ALL of his material. There's tons of them even if you don't count the last 4 albums or so.

You know the last minutes of "Deconstruction"?
Dev needs to make a whole album of that kind of music, I mean powerful and classical opera singing.
That man can SING, damn it! But his Ziltoid and Deconstruction type of albums have been too humorous and "tongue-in-cheek" to really represent Dev's singing abilities.

you guys went completely nuts, that thread extended for 80+ (!!!) pages since I last checked here about one week ago

but I understand that, I've heard Deconstruction first two days ago - and I remember not considering it too special on the first listen, quite much better on the second and now I'm already near to loving it. I'd rank it the least strong Devin Townsend album still.... but that's just for now, very high potential upways!

I love Poltergeist, that track could have been made by Strapping nearly 1:1. THAT'S what I waited for 5 years now.

I don't hear guest singers anyway. I and a friend must be deaf.

You really must be... most of them are pretty apparent except for Akerfeldt and Paul Kuhr I guess, and I can hear them fine.

Paul's a heck of a growler he should have been given a bigger part really. But still you can just about hear him the background.
