@Scherz - The "Give it up, your world" of TMM is slowly becoming my 'Keep pushing' mantra it seems. It pumps me up something chronic.

@bersurker - I nigh-on exploded out of my clothes when I heard the Waltz on the Deconstrupdate video; I properly love that part of Processional (Which is a song I consider possibly my fav. Devin song ever) I would agree that TMM is perhaps a bit long, but I do feel it has a sense of tension running through it that keeps it interesting and fresh, but I wouldn't say it sort of 'peaks' with the Carnival outro as, say, Ki (song) does with its outro.

I'm not sure how much sense I'm making here, it's very late and writing about this album makes my head hurt.

Ghost is my favourite for reasons beyond the album. It's really not something to get too excited for. When people have tried to pay attention to Ghost, it has fallen flat for them. If you just play it and ignore it to a certain extent, it's really nice.

Is it 'better' than the others? Probably not. I choose it because it's the most like what I currently like to hear. It doesn't compete at all with Decon or the others in terms of intensity, complexity or force. Although it's surprisingly complex for what it sounds like.

Anyway, trying to diffuse any anticipation for it being more than it is.

That's exactly what I'm looking for in an album to compliment Decon though Dev. No worries dude, I at least know (well as much as you can without actually hearing the album) what to expecting from it (as do other people I think) and from hearing Feather, Fall and Drench, I'm 99.999999% sure I'm gonna dig it. You really shine at that kind of background atmosphere music just as much as the intense stuff, hell I was listening to The Hummer today loving it exactly for it's minimalism. So thanks for the heads up, but I'm still gonna stay super excited for it! :D

Don't downplay it too much Devin.

I'm looking forward to it because it will probably be unlike anything that you have done before. A quiet, subtle record with those soothing tones that you've always hinted at but never fully blown out for an entire record.

I in no way expect it to go toe to toe with Deconstruction in terms of intensity or complexity! And I wouldn't want it to! My favorite albums from you are Terria, Ki & the Hummer so I think Ghost is really going to hit the spot for me.

If you were to continue to explore the softer ambient stuff on future records I would be right there supporting you 100%.

I have NO DOUBT Ghost will be awesome Dev. If anyone is let down by it right away I have no doubt they'll pick it up months later and go wow, I never heard that on there before. I think when you write and record music for a long period of time you tend to develop a more intricate taste. But I'm sure you already know that. Most musicians start out heavy full on and then grow as an artist later, which usually causes their fanbase to become somewhat different as they get older. You worry too much for someone as awesome as you are! 8)

I think most people are looking forward to Ghost for the atmosphere it creates and the mood it sets. I don't believe that it will be scrutinized for technical merit or musical complexity, etc. DTP feels incomplete without it. It's all about the virtual environment that it creates. When I close my eyes and listen to Drench, I feel like I'm floating on my back in a small natural pool in the middle of the forest with green moss covered trees and random round stones scattered about. That's exactly what I want after Decon. Ghost = Decompression.

But we don’t have it yet, so I'm wound up...which leads me to...

NERD TIME

Why is it 3.14444444444 repeating and not the actual digits of PI?

and

Why is it electromagnetic IMpulses? Isn't it suppose to be electromagnetic pulse?

nerd off. :D

Does the "Sorrow Man!" sections in Planet Of The Apes make anyone else think of 0:40-0:42 of this scene from LOTR - Fellowship Of The Ring?

I've only listened to Juular & Planet of the Apes on YT (I don't download leaks) and am going to try and not listen to anymore than those until I get my preorder next month. If they are any indication though, I'm going to like this album a lot more than I thought I would. I love how within the intense bombardment of chaotic heaviness, just when you think it's getting to be too much, along comes a great melodic section that just grabs you and hits the spot (the "I know the ways to love and truth!" section in POTA being an obvious example). I don't really care for music that is devoid of melody (as much as I love Dev's solo stuff, that's the main reason why I haven't really liked any SYL that I've heard) and that's what I thought Deconstruction would pretty much be, by I have been pleasantly surprised by what I have heard so far. :D

My anticipation is simply wanting to hear more of your music. I don't care if it's heavy or mellow, I wanna give it a listen. I'm rarely ever anything close to disappointed. That said, I'm favouring more mellow music at this stage of my life so Ghost sounds like it'll appeal more to my tastes overall.

Odd question but;

The line "What's the point of this? Where's the happiness we've been promised??" in Deconstruction(song), Is the 'piness' of happiness overly emphasised to make a penis joke or have I just got penis on my mind and suppressing homosexual urges subconsciously?

Flange.

Just had my first listen to Deconstruction and it definitely doesn't disappoint! It's going to take quite a few listens though.. Very intense.. Love that the album eases into the heaviness.. Was expecting non-stop brutality from the first note, like City, but it's much more focused in my mind. Anticipating that Ghost will be the perfect antidote. The albums are shaping up to compliment each other well and Decon is putting the first two into perspective.

I personally would love to hear Dev do an album that fuses elements from all 4 albums into one!
