Though, I still have to wonder why anyone would need SYL when something like this exists. It might just take time for other people. Hopefully nobody gives up on it.

He's explained the SYL break up too hundreds of times and still gets asked about a reunion every other interview.
People don't want to listen so they choose not to.

Yeah expecting something like SYL is a blockade. Dev is not on drugs anymore and that's good. And by that I am not undervaluing that music that he created with SYL, man that will be always some of the most intense and annihilating music he ever wrote.

Now Decon is another beast. It's heavy, not the same type of heaviness as Alien or City. It's different, way more symphonic I cannot really describe it. It's just something else which is fucking good.
The brutality of Alien cannot be compared to the one Decon serves. It's like comparing black to white. It doesn't work.

I guess why so many are a bit disappointed that it's not as heavy or brutal as Alien is that I reckon Devin said it would be some of the heaviest shit he ever wrote.

I might just be stupid, but I'm having trouble hearing a lot of the guest vocalists. I mean, Sumeria and Pandemic are obvious in where they are, as is the title track, but... I can barely detect the rest of everyone else.

It's weird to know that I've already spent three and a half hours with these songs. I think three playthroughs a day until Friday (when I write my review) will suffice, but I don't expect it to be done growing by then. I do expect to know the songs well after 16-18 listens though.

The difference between SYL and Decon is that there are so many dimensions to Decon. This makes the music much more interesting. I love blasting Alien and freaking out to Shitstorm, but there is not that much to explore with SYL. You can pretty much "get it" the first couple listens.

I can't wait to see how this album evolves with each listen - there are so many layers to the music. It is badass like SYL, but it is deeper and goes places Dev's music has never gone.

It must be sad for Dev for everyone to hear this album he's been working so hard on for years in such unflattering quality the first time around. I can't wait for it in better quality. I love how the album has epic moments ranging from downers like "I HAVE NEVER KNOWN HER LOVE AND I WILL NEVER KNOW MY CHILD" to "Ladies and gentlemen, I now see my life's purpose: I AM THE MIGHTY MASTURBATOR!!! Amen."

All of the guest vocalists were pretty obvious to me. *shrug*

Exactly. Alien and Decon are absolute God-tier in their respective areas.

192 is usually bad for metal, but this is worse than usual. It sounds more like 128, but that could be because the mix is so dense.

Anyway, I listened to the album. Too much to digest at the first listen but some of it struck instantly.. like the hyper-metal polka in Juular. Some crazy wow moments with ultra cool riffs amid soaring vokills are on the album. Seems overall pretty varied and sometimes chaotic.
