Obviously this won't set everything back to normal, there will still be nutjobs willing to take his place, but it's still a major acheivement.

It just feels so... of another time to be placating the world's bloodlust. Not saying the guy was anything other than a scoundrel, but... y'know this kinda makes me feel weird too.

Is it really justice? Or vengeance?

They said he was buried at sea, as per Islamic traditions.
Alarms bells rung in my head, and I fashionned a tin-foil hat.

Of course it's vengeance. And you can't live a life predicated on revenge or "Giving people what they deserve." Besides, as much as I hate to say it, I'm pretty sure the US did more harm to the US's image internationally than that asshole ever did. I'm all full of mixed emotions this morning.

I'm rather confused as to why they killed him, surely it would be a better idea to question and imprison him? And then they throw his body in the sea? No picture evidence or whatever? I dunno, it seems odd is all.

It was pretty sensible really, I think. If he was a prisoner then every fanatic out there would have had an incentive to take Western hostages in the hopes of gaining his release. Dumping him in the sea is supposed to prevent the same fanatics from having a place to rally around, no shrines to the man, etc.

Well it was supposed to have been a gun-fight, with a woman being used as a human shield.
Maybe they wanted to try to get him alive but could not...

Nah they said they shot him after the firefight, according to the BBC at least.
And Keeker, I suppsoe that makes sense. i thougth that about the burial at sea as well, until someone brought it up as an Islamic tradition? Seems odd to be honouring his traditions and all, if you get me.

well, as far as I heard the woman living with them was one of his wives...and him taking her as a human shield and them killing him via headshot, that sounds a bit too much like COD Black Ops.

Personally I don't think revenge is ever a good thing, it will just cause more problems. And this is one vicious circle that'll never find an end anyways, unfortunately. Because there has been too much crap happening and too many people are pissed off on all sides and at this point it doesn't really matter who started it because no one's gonna stop anyways. This ongoing blood thirst in this day and age is quite a scary thing.

Don't know what to make of this. Seems odd that a country can just decide to go out and kill someone, and everyone is ok with it? Without any sort of trial? Sure he did bad stuff, but still.

Also, I just read that being buried at sea would actually be against islamic traditions.

The US government proves every day that they give a fuck about the rule of law and human rights. Sending a commando to kill a person who was once trained and supported by themselves, of course to restore peace and order throughout the galaxy, blahblah... The best anti-terror actions are happening in Egypt, Tunesia and other countries.

That's also not entirely true either due to riots and other unspeakable acts.
