Had a great weekend in Melbourne. Caught Stephen K Amos and Doc Brown's shows at the comedy festival, ate curries and roasts and caught up with family for a breakfast by the Yarra river and a row up the river with my lovely wife.

Juz is happy.

I caught Steve Hughes a couple weeks back. Think I made a fool of myself by throwing horns while laughing at a joke about Australia's obsession with football. Oh well.

he is very funny and a great drummer! he used to play drums for a few well known australian metal bands.

What a great weekend!
Stopped being a jerk and saw two mates' bands and didn't have to pretend to like them to compensate for taking so long due to general awesomeness.
Hit a pretty great beer festival.
Finally tracked down my new puppy.
My mate who hasn't been out of the house due to illness for two months stayed out 8 hours!
woohooo

The art dealer I saw today has requested 8 pieces of work off me within the next 10 days (and has valued the work I've already done for him at about 5 times more than I valued it), and I MAY be getting an agent. It's all gay fine art (though I should add the stuff I do is actually pretty technical), but it means I don't need a real job so I have time to make action figures of my loved ones.

there was that marco guy that was really awesome. he seemed a bit more interesting than mangini but the way he looked didnt really suit the band. dream theater are very image based too i reckon. regardless, mangini is an awesome drummer and it will be really cool to see what he does in the band

Agreed. I'd actually invest the time to listen to Dream Theater again with Mike Mangini, but would have REALLY loved to hear what Marco could have done with them.

I have a lot of faith in Mangini. He's got that kind of personality which just clicks with all the other guys in DT. My first choice would have been Virgil, but after watching his audition, I got the feeling that he didn't have the chemistry they were looking for.

Went to Norwich last night. First pub we go to and I see a guy in a DTP shirt and meet a guy with a DTP wristband. Next pub we go to a girl points at my SYL shirt and reveals a tattoo of the logo, then Love? comes on the jukebox. We go to the club finally and they play S.Y.L AND In The Rainy Season.

Clearly a lot of love for the Devster in East Anglia.

A really similar thing happened to me the other day back in the arse-end of Arbroath, where no-one has a clue about metal in general usually. Me and my Mrs were out, and both happened to be wearing our DTP shirts when the bouncer on the door pointed out our shirts on the way in.

Not sure how the conversion between Norwich/Arbroath goes, but one dude at an indie gig night sounds like a pretty decent place to find a Devhead.

That is amazing! I never come across random people into DTP or SYL. Maybe I should talk to people more? I know they are out there somewhere.
