Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

Almost forgot: saw The Young Gods last week. Nice show, some good grooves, weird sounds and interesting interpretive dance on vocalist's part. Also first band I've seen where there was guitarist present yet most of the riffs were played off sampler - guitarist performed mainly weird noises (reversed delay and odd percussive sounds). Not a fan of older stuff (early industrial was rather raw sounding), but there was lots of atmospheric moments.

Also saw Aucan, gloomy Italians playing sort of dark, electronic postrock with hints of dubstep. I think somebody (Swervy?) posted them here once. This was nice show too, dudes used beats from Korg Electribe as a framework then played all the stuff around it on drums, guitars and synths. Energetic set - you can see how energetic they are by looking at their instruments - their synths looks pretty bad, broken keys and use fair amount of duct tape. Shame the show was short, it was less than hour I think, without encores.

Here's gap-toothed synth:

Yep, that was me... Saw them live two years ago in Milan, where I think I was among the few in the crowd that actually liked them better than the band they were opening for. Cool that they're still playing, and outside of Italy as well. :)

Saw Ajattara a couple weeks ago. Small gig bar holds probably 75 people. Best fucking gig place I've ever been to. They destroyed just like every other band I've seen there. Omnium Gatherum is coming there in 2 weeks followed by Moonsorrow. Should be a good time.

Saw Iron Maiden in Melbourne last week.

They smashed it for over two hours and I really enjoyed it. Only negatives were that they were touring the new album so I didn't get to hear all the classics (No Aces High, No Run To The Hills, from memory). And they had Bruce WAY too low.

But yeah, they rocked and I can now tick that off my bucket list!

I went to the Soundwave festival in Brisbane on Saturday where Iron Maiden headlined so I got to see them too. I'm pretty sure we got the same setlist as Melbourne did, I was content with that, although yeah, I also would've like to hear Run To The Hills.

Oh and Lettuce, you were so right, Rob Zombie was great! :D

Rob Zombie - my ears are still ringing, my eyes are still burning, and my voice is on the edge of oblivion - it was that fucking awesome!!
Just seeing Super-Charger Heaven & Demonoid Phenomenon was worth the night, but the whole set was excellent, and John 5 had a great extended solo during Thunder Kiss '65. An excellent night; my teenage dream fulfilled.
The supports: Murderdolls (crap, never liked 'em, hope I never have to see them live again), Monster Magnet (I'd heard of them before but didn't know their music, and judging by their performance, I have been missing out), and got there after Dommin had finished (probably a good thing).

Anthrax - Megadeth - Slayer

Anthrax was crap, Cher was singing.
Megadeth was going through the motions, played Rust In Peace....was bored actually, seen it all before.
Slayer I'd never seen before, and they tore it up. Don't like their satanic bollocks, but the show was intense. Twice as loud as anyone.

I am apparently going to a gig tonight. Should be interesting. My foot isn't healed and I am loopy from pain/loss of sleep. So claiming a bar stool then getting water all night.

Thanks Tonya. I've bene promising my friend I'll check out his band for 2+ years and they're playing down the road from my house. If security fights me on the cane, I'm simply pussing out.

Death Ray Vision
Not one for hardcore OR supergroups (members of Shadowsfall, Killswitch Wngage, and one of the Mass-based 'cast bands think Diecast- also a dude who was in all that remains for a week). However there's alot to be said for any band who clearly loves what they are doing and does it far beyond well. Fucking
Killer set.

Yikes yowza and sheesh! I am generally bored of bands after twenty minutes tops when grumpy about injuries but these guys had me stomping the injured foot a bit. Amazing stuff. Preorder the new album now. Trust me. I was a rabid Devy fan pre-City! My taste is "awesome!"

Saw my high school friends "The Red Threat" last night really good for a posthardcore/ indie venue. Amazing to see where they started out in my buddy Evan's garage I used to show up and listen to them jam when they first started out, now they're touring across Canada with 10k+ Itunes sales.

I mentioned them before but if you havnt already and are eclectic in your music tastes please help spread the word, I have a good feeling these guys are going somewhere with their music anyhoo check it out once again blah blah. Thx :)
