Not sure if this is the right part of the board or if this has been asked before, but I'll take my chances. :)

But yeah, as the topic says, which music sites do you guys use to promote your band? Myself, I've always gone with myspace, mostly because I'm famiiar with the way things work there. But lately I've been thinking about migrating to some other site/sites.

I try to manage several of my bands' profiles at once, but the only places I've made accounts are Myspace and reverbnation. I've used some Norwegian sites before, but, yeah, whatever. :P

So, what do you people use? Do you think about migrating with your own bands to other sites? What sites do you regard as the best one(s)? :)

Currently using Soundcloud, Facebook and soon enough gonna be using Bandcamp once the album's finished.

Quite liking Soundcloud because of the personal edge, can't stand Facebook because it was horribly designed for musicians but Bandcamp seem to be on the right track.

I can't say I've experimented with very much - I'm not the social media nerd, unfortunately. I do use Twitter to keep things updated, and have been considering making one for my band. Steve Lawson (6 string solo bass player dude- really interesting, look him up) swears by getting your fingers in as many pies as possible. He justifies it by saying that if people live there, as a musician, he should have an online presence there- It's not about getting your audience to come to you, but going to where your audience is.

I use myspace, facebook, reverbnation, youtube, and Vampirefreaks.
myspace is just getting stupid with all the flash they are suing. facebook is meh, reverbnation is really great. youtube just to have one and VampireFreaks is somewhat useless unless your music appeals to the gothic industiral culture.

Last.fm is decent for uploading songs to as well.

There is an app for Facebook called Bandpage which is pretty nice. You upload to Soundcloud and it links to Facebook and lets you add pictures, tour dates, etc.

^ This :D

I've been quite happy with reverbnation. We also have myspace (lame but necessary?), facebook (good for reaching friends), youtube (for eventual live videos), and our own site (for other random stuff, but not that useful in the end). Links in sig.
