I'll hold my hand up. I didn't know that until last year sometime either. But then it only looks right in certain fonts. Some work and some don't. I tended to be seeing it in fonts that didn't line the two characters up very well so it was harder for the eye to make sense of it.

LOL! You're right! I could totally see that! I actually had to "look up" what it meant online myself - the symbols people use aren't very clear to me.
