Where are all the Infinity fans
Truth is supreme!
Terria (Deep peace being #1) comes second closely followed by Ocean Machine.

Terria, hands down. Am suprised to see AE over Physicist actually. AE is a good album, but I find myself listening to far less often than any of the others.
It is a hard desicion but i have to say Terria as well
It had the most impact on me and nearly brought me to tears on many occations (the fluke)
Infinity however is very hard for me to catagorise
Personaly I consider it the soundtrack to becoming god
eg. Ants, being in tune with every single mind and molecule in the universe
would be quite overwhelming the first time
And life is indeed dynamics.
Well thats my take on it anyway.

Physicist wins hands down. It's simply awesome. I think if you didn't like SYL or only liked what made SYL SYL, then you'd probably hate it.
Infinity is infinitely deep... I don't think you could ever listen to that and say "yes, I've heard everything on it". So that's a true work of genius.
OM or Terria would be my first choice as starting point, since they're both accessible and full of great tunes, so I'm glad to see they're leading.
AE is a bit hefty for a first timer, IMO. It's possibly well-described as "punching above its weight". At times it grabs you but others it seems to be on the defensive..... still worth a listen cos the grabs are truly by the scruff of the neck!

Terria is so god damned powerful.. it's really one of those "one in 1,000" albums that really gets to me. It makes my all time top 10 (probably top 5) easily.
Ocean Machine was my introduction to Devin. I was blown away by the massive sound (Seventh Wave blew me the fuck away) and just awesome music that grows and grows on you. Infinity.. diverse and great in its own way.
Physicist had me laughing and screaming "yes, yes" after hearing 10 seconds of it.. yep, it's another winner, and "Death" just packs a huge ass whip, I get all tingly when I hear it.. Jesus, the sheer freaking *speed* of that song can kill.
AE is still a little new to me, I'm just hitting stride with it, giving it time to REALLY grow on me.
So yeah, Dev is a genius that will rip off your scrotum, blow it up and make baloon animals out of it that will rip your head off and eat you alive, then shit you out into a blender. What I mean is that he's quite good. P.S. I want to kill myself at an SYL gig.

I find the weakest is perhaps Ocean Machine (not what many people think), even though it is still genius. The production of the album did not convey the sheer magnitude of the music... this is where Infinity comes in. Not only is the production fucking brilliant (nice sonic booms) but its how deep Devin was prepared to go - this album conveys two ends of the spectrum - it is so very dark, yet it gives light - the album presents us with hell (the hell thats deep inside us) but also presents us with our heaven. It is sheer FUCKING GENIUS. I could do this for each of his albums, but Infinty is scarily awe inspiring.
same thing everytime
it always seems to need what I'm not
to all the hopeful ones
nobody gives a fuck what you've got

Life was my first taste of Devin's side projects, I really liked the song...
Man, this is a tough one!
The second I read the thread, it was "Ocean Machine", the next, it was "Accelerated Evolution", but I went with "Terria" because that's the first album I bought with Devin, and since's it's the album of my Devin catalogue I've heard the most, I decided to go with that one!
Let's metal!

INFINITY! INFINITY! INFINITY! It must just be us Meshuggah fans, we can get a little deeper into the infinity of life and existence.... and my "Suicide" is nearly done......

HI. I am new to Devin Townsend, seeing as how I just bought Ocean Machine and Terria the otherday after hearing Devin on The Human Equation. I really like both (listened to them alot), and I went with Ocean Machine because I like all the songs and it just sounds better to me, although Terria is almost as good.
Picking the best Devin CD is like picking which one i love more....
1. Breathing
2. Sex
3. Beer
4. Listening to Ocean Machine while blazing
5. Listening to Terria while blazing
6. Playing "air guitar" pretending i was as good as devin while playing Infinity....
So picking one is well i do believe the no win scenario.....
