Welcome Nick. Where're ya from?

I love how, still, there are "brand new Dev fans" springing up all over the place, but with such a huge passion towards his music and himself as though they've been a massive fan from the very start.

I got into Dev quite late on (in terms of his career) - but I feel like he's "been wtih me" all my life. :)

I'm not good with introductions but i will start with this: I am Kyle age 16 from California. What brought me to this forum is well obviously my interest in Devin Townsend's music but also an interest in the fan community. I am a bit opinionated but I will try my best to keep that to a minimum or at least share my opinion in the most respectful way possible. My interests in music outside of Devin Townsend Range from Lady Gaga to Grindcore. I was first introduced to Devin Townsend over the summer by a friend and have been hooked ever since.

Waddup, I made an account on here a while ago, did some lurking and then forgot about it....

Anyways, I'm Marshal, I'm 19 and I've been listening to Devin since a co-worker told me to pick up ZTO about 2-3 years ago. Herp...

Hello everyone. My name's Oton, I'm a Devin fan from Brazil since 2009. I...really don't know why I started listening to Devin. Thanks god I did. The first album I heard from Devin was Ocean Machine, and at the end of "Seventh Wave" I thought: "Well, I guess this kind of music is not for me...". Today, Ocean Machine is my favorite Devin album. I love all of his works (currently getting into SYL, and liking it very much). Ki is my second favorite album of his, after OM, and I am really interested in Devin's future works.

Well, I guess that's it. I've tried entering the forum before but I never recieved the confirmation e-mail =( then suddenly one day the e-mail was there, and now I'm here.

I hope to see Devin live one day, and also to talk to him personally. I saw some interviews with him and that was enough to get me thinking about my life for a week. Not say his music.

I am also interested in other "prog" (I don't like labels) metal acts, like Pain of Salvation, Opeth, Queensryche, Beyond Twilight, Coheed and Cambria, Tool, Moonsorrow, Blind Guardian (not "prog", I know...).

That's it. Hi guys.

Hello there,

My name is Stan, i'm a 21 years old french budy. I discovered Devin while browsing influence of a band i like of myspace about a year ago. I thought the name was funny. I looked up on youtube and the first vid i saw was Christeen. It has been a revelation to me, never a music has been so close to perfection. I still one of my favourite tracks and i'm surprised it's not more popular in the Dev fan base.

I then listened to Addicted album, accelerated evolution and spent the following month slowy discovering all Dev stuff. I'm just getting into the more ambiant stuff and SYL. So far the only track I really listened to was Alomst again, i think it's one of the most progressive one. But i'm really enjoying Far beyond metal, aftermath and a couple others now.

I will attend my first show in Glasgow on March 7th and just can't wait ! I'm so hoping to see some of my prefered tracks such as Kingdom, Hyperdrive or Life in live ! The Tuska performance of Kingdom or even the one on the recent ep is beyond amazing. His vocals are mind blowing

I'm really glad I joined this community. I'm the pround owner of the Ziltoid album and I'm planning on buying every new album from now one, trying to help our bald god of music

Long live Mr Townsend !

I love this!

Welcome!

Yeah! That's so...wierdly nice. Haha.

I regret not having known Devin in my early days.
I guess it just wasn't the right time for me to meet Devin's musics.

Hello people!

I'm a 20-year-old human from Finland. I joined these forums times ago but for some reason forgot about it and moved on in life almost immediately. For last few days I've been listening to you-know-who and got all excited of the gig in Helsinki and decided to register to the official forums. But I already had a user profile. Now, who would've known.

My first touch to Devin's music was in 2005 when I first heard Alien. Good stuff! All I remember about my thought towards SYL or Devin was that I liked the music quite much and that the singer had weird hair. :| Didn't care to know more.
Second was in late 2006 when a pal sent me 'Bad Devil'. That was incredibly good! I had to hear the rest of Infinity! But for some reason I didn't understand it at all and didn't like the album too much. I guess my mind was too set on black metal or something else as evil.
Third time's a charm? Tuska-festival! When I heard about that I knew that was something you do not want to miss. So I went to see Devin's gigs and was totally sold from then on. That awesome that shit was.
'Bad Devil' is still one of the best songs and believe it or not, so is 'Christeen' and 'Soul Driven'. :)

Other music I greatly enjoy are Rammstein, Type O Negative, Celtic Frost, Blue Öyster Cult, Combichrist, Pendulum, Gogol Bordello, Cathedral and so on.

Cheers!

Hi everyone. My name is Jon. I am 25, about to be married 1 month from tomorrow and I'm a huge Devin fan. I had heard his name mentioned around a couple of forums I frequent and became more interested after listening to "Dichotomy" by Becoming the Archetype which he produced. Well, I got lazy, but finally in September of 2010, I bought "City" just for kicks and was absolutely blown away. From there, I picked up the rest of the SYL and most of the solo catalog (the only ones I'm missing at the moment are Physicist, Hummer and Devlab). I'm looking forward to both Ghost and Deconstruction (especially Deconstruction).
