That's a tough one. Archetype usually means prototype, perfect example, origin of some kind, yes?
I don't think you can apply that to a symbol that would refer to nothing...
How about an archetype of matter?
That would be a black dot, representing the most common state of matter in universe, dark matter. Well, in theory anyway..
But people may just mistake it for a mouche.

Ehhhm, I'm getting nowhere with this....
