Hello fellow DT fans of all shapes n' sizes!
Let's see... Me? I'm 35 y/o married male and a drummer in a really foul local band (I kid. we're semi-OK). My profession: Graphic Artist (so's I can pay the bills, see?) I'm a fan of all types of music. I started w/ top 40 when I was 7 or 8... then my older brother brought Home the Masters of Metal comp & Kill 'Em All when I was 9 or 10 and of course for the following 8 or 10 years I was completely hooked on metal. While I still love metal to death, my tastes have broadened a LOT since those days... my current music boner is for anything with a good Jazz organists. Guys like Robert Walter, Jack McDuff, Jimmy Smith, etc. What these cats can do w/ an organ, man...the stuff makes me laugh...in a good way.
I've been a fan of Devin Townsend for man... when did Infinity come out? '98?...'99?
Anyway, an old friend/roommate turned me on to Devin's stuff when he brought home the Infinity record. Turned out that he had Biomech too, so we sat there w/ cheap beer and even cheaper weed and went on the musical journey that changed my life. I've been hooked ever since.
After YEARS of missing both SYL and solo appearances, I finally got to see DTP at Lincoln Hall in Chicago last night on the last night of the tour and it was unspeakably magnificent (even though the fart in the mic was a little weak, dude. Like I figured with the Mexican restaurant being right across the street from the venue, you'd have had more firing power in the chamber than that, but still nice effort, I guess LOL)!
My wife and I loved the show last night and so today, I finally decided to take my fan-boy-ness to the next level and get on the forum here if for nothing else... just to say THANK YOU to Devin for the many years of great music and thank you also to the rest of the band for a superb performance. It's so obvious that all of your hearts are fully into what you are doing and it was a real joy to watch you perform. Thank you also for not gouging your fans. $20 shirts. $15 admission ticket. That's A.golden, B.unheard of, and C.really golden!
and one more... thanks for making us all smile, man. You're the best.
Lots of love (in a non-ghey way of course
).
