finally finished Alan Wake. Pretty cool actually. Although the story is a little all over the place and in the end I was like whaaaaaa? :?: :?: :?: hehe
I'm now trying to beat it on Nightmare difficulty. Got the first 2 episodes done today which wasn't all that tough but it should get much more tough soon.
I'm also waiting for 3 games which should arrive over the next days/weeks. Bioshock 2, Metro 2033 and Singularity. They should all be fun!

Alan Wake isn't THAT hard on Nightmare, it's definitely more of a challenge than normal difficulty.

If I were you, I'd play those 3 games in the order you listed. They all have similarities to each other, but big things that set them apart.

Been taking Singularity in small doses, because I've been playing guitar so much since I got home...but I have to say it's definitely an interesting game. The boss battles are quite good.

well, it isn't all that difficult so far. The only thing that is annoying me a bit about the game in general is Alan Wake's inability to 'run'. Dude runs for 5 seconds and then he's close to collapsing. I understand that you have to put some restrictions on character speed in a survival horror game as a game developer so the game doesn't get too easy. But come on...no offense but a 500 kilo person who is a heavy smoker would win a short distance run against Alan Wake. And sometimes you run out of ammo and just have to run away from the 'taken' but it's often just impossible.

Nightmare mode definitely makes that game true survival horror. Limited ammo along with the fact that all the enemies take literally twice as many hits as they do on normal difficulty. I was definitely happy when I finished it, but was disappointed that the "Nightmare pages" were basically garbage.

yeah, so far I don't get the point of them other than the fact that when you really want all pages you are forced to play through the game on Nightmare difficulty.

I haven't heard much about Alan Wake except that it's pretty good. I'm huge on survival horror, I don't think I've been more excited than I was when I found a copy of the original Silent Hill in the local game swap shop. Too bad I don't have an xbox, although I am currently in posession of my boyfriend's. I wish he was into this stuff though, as close as he gets to that is probably Fallout. I've been trying to convince him to buy Metro 2033 but he reckons it's just gonna be a Fallout ripoff :( I saw reviews on TV and it looks really good. Hopefully with the new improved xbox that came out, the older ones will drop in price.

Metro 2033 is hardly a Fallout ripoff, since AFAIK it's just an on-rails shooter.

I've almost bought it on Steam's sale. Price wasn't that great though - sale's price was like regular boxed edition here. Bought Cryostasis instead - was with crappy English dubs, but at least dirt cheap. It's slow and buggy, gameplay's a bit on mediocre side, but the setting, atmosphere and story were fantastic. Sort of symbolism heavy stuff that makes you think about it days after finishing the game. Well worth that 5 euros.

(Do I have a thing for eastern games or what?)

Well STALKER is a buggy game too, but the atmosphere is unmatched!

Metro is definitely not a Fallout rip off, it's a very well paced survival horror-esque game that tells a decently interesting story. I'd personally recommend it if you like polished first person shooters.

Well that's what I thought, but I didn't really know 'cause I haven't had the liberty of playing it. Yet...

Forza 3 has been owning my life the past couple of days. So much fun. Great hold over until Gran Turismo 5!

What? Cool indie platformer that's not released on PC? What the fuck were they thinking?

I finished Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and now playing Assault on Dark Athena. Pretty good stuff, Riddick/Vin Diesel delivers his lines in ridiculously cheesy manner but stealth mechanics and these uncomfortably realistic melee (read: horrible butchering) animations are very well done. Dark Athena has pretty damn awesome character animation - cutscenes look really good.

By the way these are probably the chavviest games I ever played (bar some racing game with souped up Hondas) - most of Riddicks line's are unlawful threats and he spends his time hacking the shit out of prison's personnel. Motivation to the whole slaughterfest is unclear (I'm talking Butcher Bay here), that isn't even good ol' revenge, it's just escaping the prison while cutting the living fuck out of unfortunate bystanders. Makes you feel a little bit evil huh.

Yeah, I'm excited to check it out. If it's half as good as Braid (though not necessarily the best comparison) it'll be an instant purchase.

completed Alan Wake and got all 1,000 points now...at least on xbox live. One of the achievements glitched and awarded me 20 points instead of 30, part of my xbox shows I have 49/50 and the other part shows I have 50/50, when I actually look at the achievements all 50 are there, heh. Oh well, minor problem. Anyways, it was fun and I'm looking forward to the bonus episodes. I think forcing myself to play the game more and more in depth actually made me appreciate the game more.

Still playing Halo 3 on Legendary with a guy on my list step by step whenever we both are online and up for it. And solo I'm playing Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard. The gameplay stinks like Sab's arm pits, anus and feet. But the humor is pretty damn good in that game. It pokes fun at all sorts of games, especially oldschool video games like Duke Nukem, Wolfenstein, etc. There's actually 2D Wolfenstein-Nazi type enemies in this game too  It's probably not a game I will play through very often. Maybe even just this one time. But for 8 Euros this is entertaining enough.
