Got Alpha Protocol working on my computer...and I must say I am EXTREMELY underwhelmed. The graphics are ok, the perk system seems cool. The controls on PC feel horrible, I honestly believe the game was developed for consoles and ported to PC. Shooting someone in the head early on does nothing, your movement feels jittery and your character looks bad when they move (on PC mind you, I don't know how it is on consoles)

The lock picking minigame is almost too easy on PC, the bypassing minigame is inventive though somewhat frustrating at first. This game really feels like it's trying to be a new Deus Ex with parts that don't work.

Stealth is almost not an option at times. One overly quick movement and the whole room goes nuts, and that's all too easy to accomplish with the way the controls are.

A very ambitious game that almost takes that ambition too far into the territory of the familiar with Deus Ex but doesn't come out nearly as clean and original.

Though this is all my opinion. Personally, I will not be spending 60 dollars on it. I would, however, recommend anyone who was interested in it give it a try. Rent it or download it and see what you think.

hmmm...that doesn't sound very positive at all! But that is basically what I expected, even before I read any reviews. The preview vids I have seen didn't look real promising to be honest. I saw the graphics and was like  you kidding me? Well, graphics aren't very important but it looked like an action game and not really much like a stealth game which I kind of thought it would be.

P.S: So I take it...you'll get Red Dead Stallion, Anthony? :D
P.S.2: just read that the PC version of Alpha Protocol is actually technically the best performing version....hmmmm. :?

That's very disappointing then. Your character moves in one of four directions it seems. forward, backwards, left and right. WASD. It's very sad to see such stiff movement out of a character in 2010.

The graphics aren't THAT bad, but they aren't up to par wit games like Metro 2033 or Mass Effect 2. I'll be playing a little more of it to see if I can actually sit through it.

Yea, I almost bought RDR tonight but decided against it for the moment. I changed my deposit from Alpha Protocol over to Singularity.

Singularity should be cool...I think I'll get it too. I just hope it will be better graphically than Wolfenstein was. Not that it's the most important thing (I did love Wolfenstein) but like you said, it is 2010.

What I'm really looking forward to is Rage...looks like it will finally be released in 2011. Guess they can't use the 'it's done when it's done' card forever. I think that one will be visually stunning and fun.

And it's soon E3 time...hope there will be lots of nice new announcements. Some actual gameplay vids of Gears of War 3 would be nice. Same goes for Killzone 3. And how about some gameplay footage for Metroid: Other M!!

Singularity looks like the most original FPS in years.

I can tell you right now the biggest names they're going to show off at E3 are Gears 3, Killzone 3, Halo Reach, Dead Space 2, and Deus Ex 3. I'm really hopeful that Ubisoft will come out and announce a new Rainbow Six game and I have a feeling we will see something about Thief 4 and a new Hitman game along with Deus Ex 3.

actually I read today that a Hitman 5 announcement is kind of likely. And possibly Mirror's Edge 2, Resistance 3 and Infamous 2 as well....Infamous 2 seems quite likely. Then a new Zelda game for the Wii. And who knows....maybe actually Half-Life Episode 3.

oh and I just watched the Alpha Protocol review on Gametrailers....OMG. The gameplay looks AWFUL. It looks like actually hitting anyone with bullets is almost impossible

The hit detection is horrible. Shooting directly at someone's head does nothing half the time.

On another note, Mirror's Edge 2 and Half Life 2 Episode 3 would make me giddy like a school girl.

I love Zelda, Contra, Metroid, and Megaman, and Mario to a lesser extent.

For the SNES, Chrono Trigger cannot be beat. It is the best RPG of all time.

My friend got me a Star Craft 2 beta key a while ago to get me playing it with him and at first I was like "meh, what ever. This is boring." But then I was like "OMG ZERG RUSH NO WAY IMMA LOSE TO YOU BASTARD!!1"

I've become addicted to gaming once more. And I mean addicted. Like Addicted addicted. The last time I was this addicted to gaming was probably with San Andreas, if i remember correctly with my insomny brains, and that was a great while ago. Back then I decided that I'd stop gaming because it disturbed everything else in my life too much. If I'm hooked up on a game I can't think about anything else. I'll spend all day playing the game or thinking about it even if I'm supposed to do something else.

Now I'm hooked to SC2 and I'm even having dreams about stuff like maradeur rushing the enemy base while microing my ass off to defend my own from his reaper harrasment. Just my luck that the SC2 beta will soon take a month's break and I'll have a hole in my life which will slowly get filled with friends and music and running and stuff like that again. But just when I'll be almost back to normal the beta will be open for one last month or so and I'll mess my life up again.

It's gonna be an interesting summer.

My son got one of those keys as well and has been enjoying the new Starcraft. Looks good. Amazingly, he's not that addicted yet tho'. :P

Hah. I don't know what it is in some games that addict me. It seems totally random. Often I feel like there aren't any good games made these days because I'm not playing anything but then something suddenly comes along and I'm all about gaming again.

I was really looking forward to Alpha Protocol when I first saw it a few months back but my GOD is it awful. Had a small play of it the other day and I just don't know what the hell Obsidian and Sega let this one into the market in such a state. It's probably the worst looking, worst handling game I've ever seen, and in the age where super-duper-uber-consoles can create graphics so awesome they melt your eyeballs, this shit is fucking atrocious.

Also the crouch (if you could even call it that) in this game is probably one of the most stupid movements in video game history.

I was kind enough to message all of my friends on xbox live and tell them not to waste their money :D

Now I begin to think: Obsidian is the studio that is developing Fallout New Vegas. But behind that we have the fact that Bethesda is working with them, and knowing Bethesda they would not allow a broken, or unfinished product onto the market with their name on it.

I had the exact same concern for New Vegas, but yeah... Bethesda would in their fuck let such a shambles of a product be put on the shelves. They have one of the greatest games of the last decade to live up to, they're not gonna allow anything near the pretty much non-existent standards of Alpha Protocol to be available to the public. I mean that game isn't even shit... That's being too kind. It's Diet Shit.
