Misha's mentioned far too many times his absolute love for Sikth. First time he posted "Insomnia" everyone knew he was going a route like that. But it's a good thing, considering Sikth is no more.

Yeah, cool. They were a great band - I like my metal a bit crazy and out there, and Sikth ticked all those boxes nicely.

edit: Clearly, I should have done more research!

I feel like a horrible hipster douche saying this, but here goes-

Much as I absolutely loved their early demos, and still believe Bulb has that same talent, I'd seen some decline in output quality for some months preceding, and I feel the album just confirmed every suspicion I'd had that Periphery was becoming outright bad. If nothing else, I personally didn't like it at all.

I blame Spencer.

Only in the same sense that it is "my loss" not liking every single thing ever. In any case, opinions of art are always on a relative scale, should I hear much of it for any reason, I actually do enjoy it, just considerably less than anything I can bother to listen to actively on even a semi-regular basis. Very considerably.

There is no originality. There's only what makes you happy.

Jerks.

I actually don't like any of these kinds of bands that I've heard so far... They all get on my nerves. So at least I'm consistent!

Let's just remember that Tesseract were around long before Vildhjarta. But like Dan said, it's going to be nothing but copies for a while. Hell so many people are going around calling bands "djent bands". Djent isnt a fucking genre, it's an onomatopoeia for a guitar sound -_-

Well it is a brand new genre for me and I fully accept adopting "djent" for a genre name. Still better than making another genre name with -core in it :>

no djentcore plz

Cant really have "djentcore" considering "djent" is known for having breakdowns and such haha. I guess if we HAD to classify it, that would be the best way...
