Because bands like The Fray have about 5+ layers of different guitar work going on at some points...

If lots of layers make it sound like shit, you shouldn't use lots of layers. Period.

Production is way too poppy, they don't sound like a metal band at all. And the singer sounds like he should get some wider underpants and join Killswitch Engage.

You have listened to Addicted right? Dont give me that about layers.

you know my opinion about Addicted right? Good.

The mix has to be clean. When you're working with layers you want a majority of them to be heard so the music sounds much larger. Granted, Acle and crew could use some pointers from Dev on producing music with many layers.

the bottom line is that the band sounds like shit. their music has very interchangable riffs too. that meshuggah like riff in that tune doesent fit in the song anyway. the song sucks, the production sucks, the singer sucks, now the band sucks. stop defending a band that you have a boyish crush on because youve been expecting the album for ages. i wouldnt be saying this if they were good would i?

(probably need a sepparate TesseracT thread)

All I read was "opinion, opinion, longer opinion, and more opinion"

All I read was "fact, fact, longer fact and more fact".
It's a fact that Sab thinks the band sounds like shit. It's a fact that he thinks the riffs interchangeable, it's a fact that he thinks the Meshuggah riff doesn't fit in the song, that he thinks the production sucks, that that he thinks the singer sucks. Add this all up and it's a fact that Sab thinks the song is no good, and neither is the band.

So what we have here, is Sab expressing his opinion, and founding it with solid argumentation. Seems perfectly legit to me.

Why is it so hard for you to accept that other people have different opinions than yours?

I often come here to find some funny youtube videos to watch but I've noticed that lately there has been nothing here except just this quarrel between you three.

I'm not saying you should stop though. :D

Actually, that's exactly what my post was getting at. It's obvious you picked up on it. I have a differing opinion than both of you and not one of us has the final opinion on anything.

Haha, that's pretty excellent.

As for Tesseract, I don't think their new stuff is horrible, but it's certainly as good as I was expecting (like the earlier demos). The production is sub-standard, but I'd like to hear the whole album before I judge it. Let's just say my hopes aren't as high as they were.

I discovered Tesseract on Last.Fm recently (along with Exivious), definitely going to pick up some of their stuff at some point soon.

I absolutely love loved LOVE "Lament" and "Concealing Fate Part II" especially for the clean guitars and vocals. I can't wait for "One" to drop, and will gladly and smilingly listen to it in bliss while y'all blather on about how much you don't/do like it.

I definitely agree. I've been waiting to hear the full song Concealing Fate for years.
