You use an array of instruments ot play the guitar and the fiddle? Wow, that puts Nigel Tufnel 's use of a violin to play the guitar in the shade.

Precisely! You haven't lived until you've heard the angelic music that can be created by a fiddled guitar.

'Ey, Schro here, I write fiction, nothing published because I'm insecure about my writing and don't show it to people - not that I'm saying it would be published if I did show it to them, of course, seeing as I am insecure about it - and listen to anything HevyDevy that I can find. Been lurking here to an extremely minor extent for a year or so. I picked up the guitar a few months ago and currently play it horribly.
:guitar:
Unfortunately, I'm not very good at persuading people to do things for me, so I've only been able to convert two people to the local gospel. Or, really, one whole person, since one of them listens to SYL and hates his solo work and one of them hates SYL and listens to his solo work.
Also, I've only been to one of Devin's live shows so far, when he was touring with those BTBAM fellers, and am looking forward to seeing him again in October or later.

Hello, I've just joined a few months ago actually but yea. I'm an sensitive, easy going guy who listens to nearly anything. But the moment I first heard Devin with Synchestra about 7 or 8 months ago, I was pulled into an aurora of diverse melodies and mesmerizing songs. So to me, he is, no doubt, my all time fav musician. I haven't been that attracted to a band/solo artist that much since hearing metallica 1 1/2 years ago. I love every one of their songs. But thats a different story.

Um, I play guitar for about 2 1/2 years. I had a guitar tutor a year ago and still do now, he says that I'm learning too fast..I guess thats lots of practiced paid. I've started songwriting a few months ago, as well as lyrics and my songwriting partner is considering drums at some point.

That probably doesn't cover every minute of my life thus far, but I feel greeted for now :) .

Hello my good people!

After a friend of mine, a metal DJ, slowly but surely infected me with Devin´s works I found it necessary to join here and take a closer look at he backgrounds of this remarkable young chap.
Furthermore my dear colleague, Ziltoid, spawned some interest. I have a feeling that, much like Professor Fate, he´s one of my kind.
..except that I prefer tea.

Yours,

The Emperor of the Unknown Universe

Hello, fellow people of the Hevy Devy forum. I, as is obvious, am new here. I have always had a big appreciation for Devin's music, but until recently I have never listened to anything but Strapping. My favorite Devin(solo) album is probably Ziltoid. It's just a masterpiece after masterpiece.

I don't know what else to say and I honestly don't think their is much else to say.

Later,
Scrotie McBoogerballs.

Hello, I've just joined here too. Some months ago I stumbled upon SYL by accident and instantly loved it. I'm not sure why it took me so long afterwards to find Devin's other work but now I am most definitely absorbed by it. It's one of those things where I ask myself "how did I not know about this before?" My favourite album is possibly Ocean Machine or Physicist, but it's very hard for me to choose.

Hello, folks! I was a guitar player in quite a few metal bands in the SF Bay Area years ago, and first became aware of Devin when the Vai CD hit. I was completely blown away by his vocals, and was hooked from then on. When I heard him play guitar, I was floored.

Unfortunately, due to real life situations, music took a back seat in my life not too long after SYL's City, and I lost track of SYL and Devin. I stopped playing, stopped really listening to music, and didn't follow any of my favourite bands anymore. It wasn't until a few months ago that I decided to poke around online to see what I had been missing all these years. Needless to say, I was amazed at the body of work Devin has produced, and I am trying my damnedest to catch up.

Not to be overly dramatic, but I truly regret having lived so many years of my life without Devin's music as a part of it. I connect to the music in a way I never have with any other artist, and it inspires me to no end. I am so glad to have rediscovered Dev's music, and I don't plan on turning my back on it again.

Hey there everyone,

I'm just a simple Devin fan from the UK. Been into his solo material for a couple of years and SYL for a little longer. Both remain a firm inspiration for me in my musical pursuits and in more personal ways. Terria has been very significant for me in particular. Loving the two DTP albums that have come out and can't wait to hear what's around the corner. I'm also hoping to be able to see him live at Bloodstock this summer!

Peace and love.

Hello guys, hello Devin!

I decided the way to introduce myself here would be a heartfelt explanation of, basically, why I'm here.

What always appealed to me in musicians is individualism. Bill Hicks used to say "Play from your fucking heart!" and this aspect of creating art has been mighty important to me. When I first heard your music, I was a little taken aback. It was so unique, versatile and most importantly completely new to my ears that I knew I would have to give the music some time, grow up for it if you will.

I have now been going through some of your records, learning about them from your interviews. Extremely interesting people make extremely interesting music. It's just fucking great. I never thought I would dig something like this, and the fact that you remind me "It's just entertainment" makes it sheer fun, besides being somewhat spiritual.

So, I am forever grateful for your contribution to this world. Thanks Dev!
