Lesson learned, I suppose - means I haven't turned my PS3 on in days though - I'm sulking. For something that cost me $70 it's so full of bugs. And speaking of the price, that also upset me. Mostly because I'm used to a decent staff discount but because no physical copies of the PS3 version were being released here, I had to pay full price.

FULL PRICE! D:

...maybe I'm just bitter.

$70!? Sweet jesus that's pricey... I thought expansion packs were meant to be cheap!? That's like, more than the cost of the whole game here.

Ah, so it may turn out to be true after all!!

Rumors were rife before ME2 aboot a plot addition for the third game. Apparently it was to be revealed that the ancient Protheans had established a presence on Earth prior to being wiped out, and they'd experimented with various lifeforms here, including the Diprotodon, or Giant Wombat...
Image

One of a group of megafauna which are now extinct in Australia, but have living relatives with smaller body masses...kangaroos, platypii, etc. Anyway, the Protheans had engineered and armoured these big buggers (nearly 7 ft tall) as shock troops against the Reapers. We all know what became of that.
The rumours mentioned the discovery of a Prothean facility for Diprotodon breeding, buried deep under Ayer's Rock. The Alliance restarts the facility and the Megawombats are enlisted, along with the Krogan and Rachni, as extragalactic troops - sent to attack many of the Reapers while they are still positioned outside the Galaxy.

Or not.
I dunno.

Good idea though. I want royalties if anyone uses it.

Welcome to my world! New Zealand's expensive. New release PS3 games are around the $120/$140 mark - that's about the average price for a game here that's new. Street Fighter 4 collector's edition was some recockulous price - around $240. And PEOPLE PAID THAT MUCH.

It's not the retailers fault either, it's the suppliers/distributors. Little NZ gets raped. :(

That is a truly insane price for a game... I get annoyed when they're like, €55... I think I'll be a little more appreciative now! Poor ye...

Beat Metro 2033 twice and had fun both times. Luckily for a seriously linear game, if you pay attention to the citizens and choices you can actually experience 2 radically different endings. I loved the game, easily one of the most atmospheric FPS games I've played in a long time (I'd say since the original Deus Ex). The human enemy AI isnt the best, nor is the shooting, but stealthing through a level or 2 without killing anyone and not even being seen once is a hell of a rush in a game like that.

Been playing Just Cause 2 lately, and loving it as well! The best way I can describe this game is to imagine GTA4, Mercenaries 2, and Crysis all combined into one...and it has a grappling hook that can be used on anything. The visuals never cease to amaze me, but the voice acting is by far the worst I've heard in a game. It makes all of the original Resident Evil games seem like they were voiced by the best talent around. I'm really not kidding here, the voice acting and dialog are so bad that I almost wish I could turn them off. But that aside, the game is really addicting and immense. The game world is so huge it's ridiculous. I doubt I'll ever see everything there is to see in Just Cause 2. I've played for over 5 hours and only done maybe 4 missions, due to a lot of screwing around with the grappling hook and such.

Is Just Cause 2 worth buying? I played the demo and was left disappointed. Sure the grappling hook was great fun and the environment was as impressively huge as it was detailed, but I found the shooting and alarm mechanics to be fairly bloody irritating... I may trade in Heavy Rain for it when I'm finished it but I'm sort of undecided on it.

agreed....aiming just felt awful. The demo looked great but the aiming problems kind of killed the demo for me :(

see, i thought it was out already. i went down there to get that with 3 and the people at electronics boutique were like "piss off, it comes out in april"
if it makes you feel any better for the wait, it really requires that you know the back story to be able to appreciate more of what's going on. i havent played god of war before (besides the psp one) so i was left with more questions than answers at the end

that's basically why I want to wait. But I've watched so many gameplay and review vids and this game looks sooooooooo awesome! Oh well, just another month. I'll pick up Heavy Rain next week which should help make the waiting a bit more bearable. And I think I really need an Emo Fantasy XIII break...I'm really surprised that the characters in this game don't cut themselves.

I really don't see the characters this way. Except for Hope. But you know he's 13 and has a dead mom.

well, they whine a bit too much for my personal taste. Yes, their situation is hopeless and all that but in my opinion the creators of this game really overdid it with the whining. When there's so many cutscenes and in most of them someone whines it is just a little too much. The battles are fun though, that's why I have not given up on the game. And the graphics did manage to impress me several times now.
