Calling me young? I distinctly remember the days before disc based gaming and the transition into it.

Loading games from tapes was annoying, wasn't it. Damn tape drive for my Atari liked to spat out errors after 20 minutes of loading. Those were the times, young 'uns ave it easy.

Ah, memories. Bloody tapes - I remember thinking nothing of waiting for... what... half an hour? just to play Pong or Centipede or Jumpman or similar on the VIC 20 and then the C64.

For zero load times I had a Hanimex TV Games system with its sweet analogue control sticks. I still have that somewhere - will have to dig it out one day.

Damn, all this reminiscing has me hankering for some old school gaming. Maybe a bit of this:

I had a C64 too and had games like Turtles, Ghostbusters and Batman...they sucked! Sure is weird to think that those games were on tapes back then!

It wouldnt let me import my save from Mass Effect 1 which is still infuriating. It didnt let me choose what the out come of the last game had on this one. Either way I'm thoroughly sucked into the game. I've gotten all the characters and now just need to gain their loyalty, which means traversing the galaxy multiple times to help them all out. Luckily I'm finally finding good weapon upgrades and such.

Anyone else kinda intrigued by Dante's Inferno? I'm looking into the Divine Edition for PS3. For the same price as any another new game on PS3, you get a lot of stuff (the game soundtrack, some free DLC, a digital version of the Divine Comedy, among some other goodies). Even with the blatant similarities to God of War, I still find the idea of making a game based on such an old piece of literature oddly appealing.

no, no...it wasn't delayed...they had it in stock on the 27th. They just screwed up dispatching it but they promised to dispatch it today. Of course they still may screw up again or the delivery service screws up.

The demo was unremarkable. They threw tits down your throat almost from the get go (not complaining, but it did seem like it was there to grab your attention.)

The frame rate is solid and the game looks good, but overall I'd just wait for God of War 3 man, it comes out March 16. Why play an imitator when you can have the real deal in just over a month and half?

Unless you're the core title of the genre or are really refining the mechanics (i.e. How refined Bayonetta plays vs. the last Devil May Cry) you really ought to bring something new to the table. I'm hoping Castlevania: Lords of Shadow does this by adding explorative Metroid/Castlevania puzzles and open world to the genre.

I enjoyed God of War 1 & 2, and I probably will get the third installment when it comes out. Its shaping up to be huge. But saying that Dante's Inferno plays so similar to GoW could be taken as a positive thing...there are worse games it could mimic gameplay-wise. There is an over-abundance of chesticles in the game, but God of War had its fair share of digital boobies, too. It may lose marks for pretty much being GoW's tit-fascinated step-brother, but I'm willing to give the full game the time of day. I'm not expecting it to blow people away, or be remarkably earth-shattering, but it seems entertaining nonetheless.

Lament of Innocence was solid, and was a step in the right direction for 3D Castlevania games, but the graphics weren't the best for the time, the locations in the castle could have been more vivid and varied, and it was kinda on the short side. The soundtrack was stellar, though, and I freaking loved that secret boss battle with the Forgotten One.

Yea, I can understand Dante's Inferno definitely being an interesting game and fun to play overall because of the non stop action. Another problem I had with the demo was brain dead enemies. I was nailing 130 hit combos on Normal difficulty like it was nothing. Go ahead and TRY to get that kind of combo in God of War.

Bayonetta is another game that I do plan to play, but once my friend beats it. I dont know if I would shell out the money for "Witch May Cry". I had a lot of fun with the demo (more so than Dante's to be honest) and the game's aesthetics are crazy to look at.

Either way, Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2 come before both of those games in my opinion.

The Last Ninja and sequels were pretty tough too. Fiendishly so at times. I remember being amazed at how good the ninja's eyes looked in the title screen artwork.

Finished Mass Effect 2. Really good game, sucks they stripped a lot of the more classic RPG elements out. Still the story was one of the best I've played through since the original game. The ending was a bit crazy even by Mass Effect series terms.

Definitely waiting for the 3rd one in the series, I can imagine that will be another 2-3 year wait. Also replaying it to get more achievements and hopefully make my whole team loyal so I can make it through without anyone dying on me.

finally received my CE of Mass Effect 2 and it's absolutely incredible. I'm not missing the stripped RPG elements at all. To be honest, I don't miss them at all. There were just way way way way too many items in ME1 and it sucked that after a few palythroughs with your character you were busy getting rid of all the stuff a lot. I like the fact that there are so many upgrades that you can get, I like that way more than the item overflow in ME1. The weapons are also way more impressive and there is enough ammo for them. There's at least as much chatting to do in this game as in ME1. I read so many times that it's all shooting and blab blab. After 6 hours of playing I can't say that it's THAT much more of a shooter than ME1 was. Guess it's just die hard RPG fans crying because there's no turn based fighting or whatever. It looks incredible. I had several 'wow moments' already and I have only seen a small portion of the game. The Afterlife club alone makes a place like Chora's Den from ME1 look like a joke. And the framerate has so far been very consistent and great. Scanning planets may not be the most fun thing ever but at least it does not take as long as driving around on a planet forever just to find some crap. Anyways, so far I'm very pleased!
