Just got back from the show...

I really only went for Devin, so I left shortly after Cynic started...

Absolutely fucking amazing. He seemed to really be enjoying himself up there....and just as cool was that the better part of the audience was into it too. Lots of raised arms and horns. Man, how that man can sing the way he does so consistently....mindblowing. Sound was pretty damn good, minus some clarity in the kick drums and bass...vocals sounded clear as day.

Glad Devin's rockin' the Axe-FX....his tone was...well, HevyDevy.

Devin kicked ass as usual.
Saw this show in LA last week. I still really don't get the other bands on this bill.
Scale the Summit seemed alright but when you play only instrumentals it kinda gets dull fast.
I mean, I love Steve Vai, to me he's the most entertaining guitar player out there, but after three instrumentals, I always start to yawn. Ya need lyrics to wake you up.

With Cynic, I couldn't help but feel like that part in Walk Hard, when Dewy Cox is in his Bob Dylan phase and even his own band can't understand what the hell he's signing about only to dismiss it with a "THIS IS DEEEEEEP." Somebody else in front of me compaired it to going to the Museum of Science, which I thought was funny.
Also I thought they really suffered from no stage presence at all.
Devin by way of comparison had the audience in the palm of his hands.

To be honest, I've never heard of Between the Buried and Me (or any of these other bands outside of Devin), before this tour. I once again gave them a shot, but really couldn't get into it.
They had plenty of stage presence, but it was a lot of screaming and trying to fill every nook and cranny with 5,000 riffs.
I left before the first song was over (I watched 75 percent of their set in LA, and was still unfazed).

As for Devin's set. I'm a little surprised he didn't play Addicted or Hyperdrive.
It's also kinda tough to fit in two instrumentals in a 30 minute set.
Townsend should have headlined... hope that idea isn't too far off.

Amaaaazziiiinnggg. I only went for Devin, but as said, he was TOTALLY into it(and made fun of people for not moving around), as was a good amount of the crowd. Intense mosh pit during Truth and OM! :D And as always, Devin's voice was phenomenal... and he was hilarious!

My day was made when I grabbed one of RVP's drumsticks and got a Ziltoid shirt :chain:

I had tickets and just crossed from CT into Mass when we got hit by some massive snow. I could barely see anything for awhile. We pulled over and stuck it out for a bit but the gf had GRE's in the morning and I was worried about getting stuck on the way back. Seems like it cleared up though after we turned around.

I know, what kind of fan am I right? So what did he play? Any Kingdom?

I hope everybody who went enjoyed it and made it back home safe. Looking forward to hearing more about it.

My day started when I hit the Museum of Science to scope out some of the new-to-me exhibits. They had this photo display about human consumption. There was one that looked like SUnday in the Park by George (fuck you. I love Sondheim. Ref had to be made) and was composed entirely of soda cans consumed within a given amount of time. Really makes you think. Totally got to head back for that Harry Potter prop exhibit!

Then it was off to the New England Aquarium. Got there 1/2 hour before close. It was perfect timing. The octopus was out and attempting to feed on a crab in a box. The staff was gathered around as apparently she's never been so active. Was also interesting seeing some of the regulars wind down for the night.

As for the show... I really dug Scale the Summit at first. Then after about 10 minutes, I was bored and wanted to go make a sandwich. Maybe something with some nice provolone and some really lean roast beef. Or perhaps a reuben. Cynic made me want to add some pickles to the sandwich. Between the Buried and Me... I honestly left to go eat my metaphor.
As for Devy I got misty eyed a couple times. The joy at having him back was strong as The Hulk. Plus the people yeah sure it was kinda annoying that the dipshit patrol stepped on my feet to get closer but I remember at least one gig where I was one of six in attendance. Those are nice memories to have but if ya love something enough to drive across some combination of six states a good 16 times seeing it grow would do you good.

As for after the show, it was great catching up with the boys again. Nice to see Dev so hale, hearty, and downright happy again. We ain't tight by any stretch but seeing anyone in as rough a shape as he was last time sucks. He was saying that nothing's remotely official but a headlinging tour has indeed been discussed. The other interesting tidbit was something about a ZIltoid stage show coming to Finland.
Highlight of the post-show shenanigans (of course next to Ryan calling me The Cold Car Guy despite my also being the Detonating His Transmission For a 20 Mintue DTB Set 250 Miles From Home guy) was Dave passing me a copy of the new Ten Ways disc. I've been up for an extra two hours just to listen to it a couple extra times. Great stuff!

My gf got me tickets for this show, but because of the snow storm we couldn't make it. it was a blizzard in manchvega$ ct. I was pretty bummed all night. Knowing I couldn't miss DT in the north east we ended up ordering tickets for the show in upstate New yRok tonight, can't wait to see it!

Yeah me and my family got stuck in a snow squall and it was awful, but we still made it for all of the acts. i enjoyed every band who performed, but i enjoyed btbam the least. dev was crazy and his facial expressions and insults that make no sense had me lol'n. it was a great performance and dev seemed to be enjoying himself again, i was right on the left side right in front of the stage, the people were pretty cool, and to quote my friend the middle aged guy next to us "was ziltoid"ahahaha. Definitely one of the best shows Ive been to in a while and i even got a Ryan Van Poederooyen drum stick to remember the night by. :D also i really hope to see dev again on a headlining tour, be so great

I got the other stick!

Ive been a big Cynic and BTBAM fan for a while and only have recently gotten into Devin's music besides listening to some SYL a few years ago, but his live show absolutely blew me away. Its too bad he only got to play as long as he did, hopefully he gets to have a headlining tour soon. Gonna start working my way through listening to his back catalog.

Devin was unfuckingbelievable. Just an awesome set. I could have gone for a full set. I know he played Disruptr, Supercrush!, Kingdom, Om, Truth, and By Your Command. I was in such euphoria that I can't remember the one or two other tunes. Anybody?

I'll start by saying I have been a fan of Devin's since he first appeared on Steve Vai's Sex and Religion. Then once I heard Ocean Machine: Biomech, I was hooked.

The show last night was amazing, even thought it was short, Devin truly delivered. His voice is probably the best there is. He can go from a whisper to the most the heavenly to the most aggressive in a single breath. I can’t believe that after the amount of shows he has done so far that his voice is still better than ever.

As far as the set it was the same as every other night which was cool.

His look and stage presence was incredible. He slithered around the stage and made the most amazing animated facial expressions. His tongue in-cheek humor goes over really well with the crowd which really adds to the show. He truly is an amazing performer.

I didn’t stay for the rest of the bands so I can’t really comment on them.

After his set I hung out outside by one of the bands buses, in the cold for about and hour or so hoping to meet Devin and while waiting I met some really cool people who where all die-hard Devin fans. (Hey Bryan (with a Y) and Dawn!)

Unfortunately it was getting late and it didn’t seem that Devin was going to come out any time soon so our little group left.

I want to thank Devin personally for coming to Boston and putting on a fantastic show. I hope he will come back again soon for a headlining tour because I know a lot of people really want to see that and perhaps I will be able to meet him then and thank him for all of his wonderful music.

Check out the pictures I took!

Thanks again!
Darren

Wow dude, way to not give the shout out to me and my cousin.
Just foolin'.
Anyway, here's my review of the show. As much as I love to write, I hate to type, especially on forums. So I made this instead...

Cool review. It's really cool that every single Devin fan has been praising the shows. Can't wait til' he comes to Finland.

And that shirt is awesome!
