Knew about him before. Got None Shall Pass a few weeks ago. It's taking a few spins for the whole lot to settle in, but it's definitely got some good tracks on there. His lyrics are great as well.

Mos Def is by far my favorite hip hop artist, and the Ecstatic is fantastic, IMO on par with Black on Both Sides. Black Star with Talib Kweli is a classic as well. HIs flow is always so relaxed and flawless and there's a positivity in his music that is seldom found in the genre. Other great acts and rappers I enjoy are Outkast (E.T. off ATLiens is one of the most unique tracks I've heard), MF DOOM, A Tribe Called Quest, the Pharcyde, Cunninlynguists, and obviously Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) is an amazing album. It amazes me the ignorance towards the number of truly intelligent and talented artists in this genre.

I'm hoping to go to my first hip hop show when Mos Def comes around later this month. Anyone have any experience going to hip hop shows? I imagine it's a bit of a different vibe than the metal shows I'm used to :P
