The Saboteur is really, really fun. I don't know why it got so many bad reviews...must have been the AC2 hype. OK, it does not re-invent anything but it's a fun game with LOTS to do. The story and side missions lone take about 20 hours and then you still got 100's of freeplay targets that you can take care of, like blowing up Nazi watchtowers, etc. This game is quite the suprise hit to me.

Having a lot of fun with Left 4 Dead 2 which I got for Christmas. Much better than the first. The versus mode is rather fun this time around with the wider variety of special infected. Plus the gore in this game is freaking over the top. It's really like playing a zombie movie.

I got over L4D2 pretty quick for whatever reason. Played the first one to death but the second one didn't really have that effect on me. Most of the people I personally know actually have experienced this.

Been playing The Saboteur for close to 27 hours now and still can't get enough. No idea why that game has that effect on me and GTA4 or both AC's didn't. :?:

I'll get over it quick enough. It's just run and shoot, run and shoot. Dying for Mass Effect 2 though!

ive been playing this game called fairytale fights on ps3 recently. its bloody good fun!
it has also gotten a lot of shit reviews but different strokes, i guess.
the whole idea is to take cute little fairytale characters through beautifully rendered worlds and disembowel other cute little fairytale characters. you can even slide around the place in their pools of blood! :D

Potentially misguided, my mother purchased me Rock Band for a joint Chanukah/Christmas gift.

So uhhh, who wants to come over and party?

BTW, one thing I learned much to my chagrin there's at least one decent if not kinda derivative of the 60s Panic at the Disco song.

I hate giving bad bands credence to exist.

The Saboteur is fucking AWESOME. Srsly, I thought it'd be good fun, but god damn this thing is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! I dunno if I've ever enjoyed a game this much, and the visual interchanges between the black and white and colour areas of the map is a sight for sore eyes. Great way for Pandemic to bow out on. Though they should really have gotten someone who's actually Irish to do Devlin's voice! That'd be my one complaint.

it ain't just Devlin...there's hardly a German doing the voices for the Nazis. I often was thinking 'wow, it's Brüno speaking' But I agree, the game is fucking awesome and fun. I played the game for about 40 hours now and still play it. I think I played this game more than I played gta4, ac1 and ac2 together. I seriously don't know why it got such average reviews. At the moment I go Nazi general hunting and try to climb up the highest buildings and you really can climb up pretty much every building. How many of the postcards did you find so far, Leechy?

Anyway, I played through The Ballad Of Gay Tony (I got Episodes From Liberty Cities for christmas). Funnier and more over the top than GTA 4 and The Lost And The Damned. And I love the option to replay every mission after finishing the storyline.

nah...that game is so much more. I think it just got bad reviews because of GTA4 and AC fanboy babies and that sort of kept people from buying it. It's fun to blow up several Nazi targets at once without being caught. The free roaming in this game is much more appealing to me than it is in AC. It's fun to plant explosives on 2 towers, then climb up a building and blow them up together..then you see a nazi zeppelin and shoot it down with your Panzershrek. So much win...so much win! :D

OK, it is now Next Year where I reside, so time for a wee quiz:

GOTY 2009?
Mine...AC2.

D(Disappointment)OTY?
MW2 - too short, not enough "God" missions, implausible story.

GOTD(Decade)?
Half-Life 2. First FPS that gave me a sense of immersion and atmosphere. I could almost feel the Sun on my face in City 17.

Remember, it has been a huge 10 years and games have come far, so think hard before answering.
Also, no arguing aboot relative game merits. Each choice is yours alone.

I guess if we're speaking in terms like that and I'm a narrative kinda guy either Psychonauts or Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

Both were refreshing new spins on a video game narrative.

However of this decade I probably spent the most time with the RPG Maker released for the PSOne in 2000. Wide open canvases like that are quite awesome.

ok, so i heard a few of you people going on about The Saboteur, so yesterday i decided to pick it up before going to work and finally got a chance to play it last night.

fuck me, that game is good :) its the first game in a while where i actually felt a sense of hatred for the bad guys. usually in most games, i just feel indifferent to whoever the "evil force" may be, but this game has made me a very happy nazi killer
