I think majority of nerds population did. Or at least nerds' population in certain age.

I liked Lynch's movie for some reason.

bazierk wrote:If you're into non-fiction I'd say Bill Buford - Among the Thugs

It's about a journalist who follows Soccer hooligans around Europe from match to match. He writes about the crowd mentality, and it is absolutely insane what these people do. Buford writes really well, and at times the story will make you cringe and feel dirty, as if you're a part of the acts. Amazing read!

His other book 'Heat' about his adventures in a restaurant kitchen then in Italy learning to make pasta and butcher pigs is an utterly absorbing read as well.

Let's see of late I've read Nick Hornby's Songbook, Slam, and Juliet Naked. Then there were Terry Pratchett's Only You Can Save Mankind, Johnny and the Dead, and Mort. Also plowed through Corelia Funke's Inkheart. Oh yeah and there was that short story compilation erm Speaking to the Angel. Then also Gaiman's Graveyard Book. In the last 1/3 of Pratchett's Thief of Time. Then it's either his Unseen Academicals or Whozit's Sense, Sensibility, and Sea Monsters. The librarian makes fun of me for reading so much. Asked her "how much would *you* read if you cut out your TV time?"

Solid point. I would probably have a finished album if I cut out the TV.

Terry pratchets colour of magic,
emotion and meaning in music (i cant remember the writer, its a psyc study on music and the brain, experiences etc...)
Elegant universe by Greene
The bible

I think my taste in books is pretty general (if you cant tell) most of the ones i own are just history/cosmology books. i hate fiction.

I can tell peeps I haven't eaten in a couple days due to this $200.00 screw up with my paycheck or that Igo through the winter without heat on purpose to save on utilities. However, what always convinces them I'm broke is my lack of television service.

Gene Simmons- Sex Money Kiss

His philosophy on life is a bit warped and selfish, but damn hilarious. I have to be sure not to let it seep too far into my psyche.

So quotable: "A crook is about to rob you and points a gun in your face. Your life is in danger. You could tell him you love him, try the Jesus path. The same thing will happen to you that happened to Him. You'll get crucified, and you don't even have to be a jew like he was!"

I finished two books recently, and I recommend them both:

Blankets by Craig Thompson - an autobiographical graphic novel about growing up in an evangelical Christian family in Wisconsin - and about falling in love for the first time. Huge book, but I finished it in just two evening. Simply beautiful.

How to Cure a Fanatic by Amos Oz - a rather small book about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, and of course about fanaticism.

Minding the Body, Mending the Mind by Joan Borysenko

It's a must read for Psych class, which I have to do a Powerpoint presentation on. I'm all about wellness, so it's pretty invigorating. :)

Robert Anton Wilson - Cosmic Trigger

This book changed my life (I cannot say that for any other book I've ever read, and there have been alot of them!) and I've gone back to it again and again, gaining more each time and still astounded by how intelligent, humourous and balanced R.A.W. was. May he rest in peace and may we follow his example.

I haven't read this yet, but I just wanted to share, since I am so excited! :D
I bought a book called "Nostradamus - The Prophecies"!
Was only 2 euros, so I decided to go for it.
It's in english, and has some difficult words, so I need to tackle it with my dictionary.
But he was an interesting guy, so I am looking forward to read it.

Carry on!
