I'm no expert on sound but even to me I sometimes need to lower the volume on Vampolka as it seems a little louder and higher in pitch than the rest of the album. And of course for the dog, he can hear frequences you can't which are reverberating around the hard walls of your house at about 5 times the volume your ears are finding comfortable.

All songs have different audio wave forms, spectrums and interaction of frequences etc. Don't underestimate how complex and unique sounds, and therefore songs are.

Are you a vet, per chance?
More to the point, have you actually ever seen a dog howl IRL?
Putting their ears back/tail down is a natural response, also if the dog was miserable or in pain in any way you'd know about it.

He's a vet and he was in Vietnam...

This dog is suffering only from not listening to Vampolka. I need to listen to that song, too.

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo !

Howling is very serious business for dogs, 'cos it has to do with pack-instinct. You are absolutely right, that dogs are not human. So yea, he's not actually happy or "rocking out to dev's tunes" when he's doing that. And i do agree on the fact that dog's have very sensitive ears. However, I live in a big house, and when Vampolka is playing he walks from the other side of the house, right next to the speaker (he does that in the video too) and starts howling. I can even listen to that song on my open headphones and he still starts howling next to me and believe me, thats not loud.

He's half golden retriever, one fourth terrier, one fourth hunting dog. He has all these very "tough" breeds in him, but he's actually a total pussy. :D

Folks, stop the drama, the dog is going to be allright... It's not that he's listening to Celine Dion or Resurrection of Barbara Streisand.

Dogs might not be as bright as humans, but a dog that's in pain due to loud music isn't going to stick around and howl.

Exactly.

The music affects the dog in some way and makes it howl (pack instinct or whatever), but it's clearly not hating it or in pain! Makes no sense, cause it runs to the speaker!

And there has been some study of music affecting dogs. They get used to different kinds of music and their reaction vary depending on what they are used to hearing. They may kinda "like" some sort of music (sounds), I guess. Or atleast different kinds of music give a different reaction.

I'm not an expert, but I've read some shit...

second i dont think its torture...I actually thought of how mothers while pregnant will put headphones to their belly and play mozart to the unborn child cuz it apparently makes them "smarter" that i would play Devins music to mine lol

This. That was kind of embarrassing to watch, actually.

Aside from the fact that dogs generally don't stick around when something is hurting them, I've never seen a dog act like that when it's in pain.
Looks like the "howl at the moon" behaviour more than anything.
