I was having a horseshit day yesterday. I was near the point of putting my career and family's well-being in jeopardy. Luckily I had to go to the doc and that got me away from work and the person spawning ferocious hatred within me.
On the way to the doc, I was cranking up your tunes, both DTP, including Addicted, as well as some of your older stuff.
There's enough aggression and heaviness in your music to satisfy my need of that, yet there is so much positive energy at the same time. It reminds me that it is OK to have aggressive feelings, but that it can be turned around into positive energy. I arrived at the doc early, I just sat there in my car with the engine off, just soaking in the positive vibes. You write and create some really uplifting shit. It feels real, and not contrived.
When it was finally time to go in, Awake! was finishing, and I just had to wait until it was completely done.
Maybe it's because your music appeals to all my pleasures, guilty or not. I grew up at the end of thrash metal's peak, and then it was onto Morbid Angel, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse and all that shit. I loved Dream Theater when they first started. Now, I listen to a lot of Yes and King Crimson. BUT, I also have fond feelings for Def Leppard, INXS, Depeche Mode, and even Prince!
So, I guess I appreciate that you're not afraid to delve into any of those realms of your personal tastes. That is as honest and heartfelt as it gets.
So I'd just like to thank you for doing your thing. Please keep on doing it. I really get strong positive vibes from the new one, and in lots of your other stuff.
I'm buying it on the 17th. I am also going to buy the ultra-deluxe DTP box-set with personalized diorama if it is available. Name the price, I'll figure out how to pay for it. You deserve it.
I'm not here to say that we're spiritually connected or that we're so much alike or that your lyrics are personally transcending my existence or anything like that. I don 't even know most of the lyrics, or I mishear them.
I just wanted to say thank you for satisfying my musical needs and at the same time providing so much positive energy. It helps uplift my spirits and reminds me that there are a lot of great things in this world. Sometimes we need to just stop and appreciate that.
