This I'm curious about. I mean when I was in high school (which is getting on 6 years ago), they were my favorite band, and I still maintain that everything up through Clayman is quality (though I understand if you don't like the Gothenburg sound, I mean that's all preferential), but I think I know exactly where you're going with this.

Everyone in the fanbase is too fucking apologetic. When the money went to screamo kids, and In Flames started making albums for them, and ludicrously all the regular metal heads stood by them even though half of it is an auditory abortion. And if you talk to them about it, they get super defensive. It's kinda ridiculous.

I still maintain the worst case of this was Cryptopsy though.

So, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say I don't really LOVE Phil Collins, but his 80's hits are totally nostalgic, because that is when I was growing up.

I am still not all to familiar with the early Genesis stuff, but as far as Peter Gabriel....."Fragile" is one of my favorite albums.

Since for me, I was just a tad too young to be in that era I can't say I agree, but I know how that goes. Being in my age range, there are a lot of embarrassing things we are a huge fans of. What's even more embarrassing is having my young parents who have fond memories telling me I used to sing No One Like You by the Scorpions when I was 2.
