Okay, there's no reason Addicted shouldn't get some airtime on any of our local radio stations. I propose we all work together to slowly get any of the released songs played on our radio stations. How? Give an email adress of one of your radio DJ's for an appropriate station and we can flood them with (polite) emails requesting to play material from DTP's new album; Addicted.

Just a suggestion. I think given our number's we can bring more support to Dev. I'll start: http://www.krzr.com/pages/contactus.html?_show
That's my local radio station. I suggest emailing to Skippy or Koyote.

Hope to see alot of you get on board for this. Keep emails short and polite.

EDIT: Damn looks like my station's email thing ain't working right now. Feel free to post yours.

I'm trying to email them, but it's not working, yet.

Will try in a few hours, again.

It should be a station-specific recommendation, as well.

For example, here in Seattle, I could hear 107.7 'The End' playing something like BILB or perhaps Hyperdrive, but everything else (even Supercrush) would be too heavy for them. I think Devin's best shot at "crossover" success is Ih-Ah. I could easily hear that playing on 'The Mountain', which is the doctor's office radio station of choice here in town ("Hits from the 70's, 80's, 90's and today!" type of stuff).

Bottom line; I'm eager for Devin to finish Decontruction, but I really hope he and the record company allow time for Addicted to "breathe." It may take 6-8 months for people to spread the word that it's radio-friendly.

Yeah I agree. KRZR would play supercrush or BILB pretty well. Your better off emailing Skippy about one of those on the site. And apparently even though it gives you a 404 error, the email still goes through. So, be careful.

I'll definitely try my luck with requesting one or two Finnish radio stations to play it once the album is out. I'm pretty sure the metal show "metalliliitto" on Yle X will play a few of the songs in any case (they even played a couple from Ki although it's not metal!). But to get some song to play on a regular radio program would be pretty fantastic!

Guys I can understand where you're coming from with Ih-Ah but don't you think it'd sort of be like, an innacurrate representation of his music?

That's not a relevant question in my opinion. Why would a song that's being played on radio have to be some sort of representation of his usual sound, which may or may not exist. You may have noticed that Devin covers quite a wide range of genres with his music.

It's like saying that Metallica's Nothing Else Matters shouldn't be played on the radio, cause it's not an accurate representation of Metallica's music.

I meant how it's crazy poppy with no prog elements, so it has a huge formal contrast from basically every other Devin thing besides BiLB. But then you could go Supercrush or Hyperdrive, it is fairly easy to get into but the prog is there, you know?

Yeah, I know what you're talking about, but I think your main problem is that you don't like Ih-Ah.

In my own view, all the song has to be is GOOD. The style has no relevance whatsoever. I guess you just would rather choose a song for radio, that you could get behind as a fan and Ih-ah is not that kind of song?

And in any case, I'm actually with you in that I'd propably request some other song than Ih-ah. But I don't know about what kind of limits the American radio stations may have in the style of songs they play. I don't really care either. If you get something off the album on air, that's cool.

And I think Ih-ah is a good song anyway, so yeah..

I already emailed the 2 local rock radio stations here, I suggested Supercrush, Ih-Ah and BILB. BILB and Ih-Ah are definitely something that they would play. Let us hope!

Well picture this, if the first Devin thing you ever heard were Ih-ah, would you imagine the type of musician he is? I'd imagine more of a John Mayer type of guy, while with say Supercrush I'd have an easier time getting into it (assuming I'm not a music geek, which I already was when I heard Ziltoid so there were no troubles there) than a number of songs real life me likes more, but I'd still get a more... Devy impression.

Then there's also the matter of a certain kind of person that might hear Ih-ah, think it's awesome, but then be turned off by almost everything of his. Or the type that would gravitate more towards Deconstruction, or even Ki and Terria, hear this, think he's just some guy that sucks, when he could've gotten credit from the huge music geeks for other things.

But wait a minute, this is sort of all covered by the station specific stuff. The target audience of a soft pop station wouldn't appreciate Supercrush anyway, and nobody's going to request it to a prog station. I'm a huge sillybuns!

If KRZR does Supercrush or especially Hyperdrive I will jizz in my pants. Guys go with Hyperdrive more, it's awesomesauce, this version at least is majorly viable, it's a perfect representation of Devin (sans vocals), and 6/4 isn't too crazy for a lot of places!

I think it's a little weird to say "Ih-ah!" is a bad representation of his music, and then suggest a song that Devin doesn't even sing on as a better alternative.

It's a foine representation of his composing, who cares if Anneke sings it, he's just as awesome, and someone who loves Hyperdrive is apt to love more of him, you know?
