Just closed the deal on a 1997 Honda Accord LX, my first car. So stoked on rippin around.
The general agreement is Hondas make damn reliable cars, would anyone have an objection to that statement?

Sounds good enough to me. I don't know shit about cars, but my dad had a '95 of the same make and model and his is still running fine, with very little maintenance.

It's um...

Older than you.

I have a 2000 Honda Civic EX, and I love it. Maintain that car reasonably and it will last a ridiculously long time--it loves your abuse.

Congrats on your purchase!

MY first car was a Honda Accord too!
Shiny red and "classy" grey on the inside.
I gave my loan money to my boyfriend-at-the-time, and he said that
he will take the money to the car dealer while I was at work.

4 months later the car was taken away by the dealer, and all he told me
was that I didn't pay for it.

Yeah, nice memories!

p.s. I am STILL paying the loan away!
Damn that devil, cheated me like that.

People think Honda make reliable cars because only old people drive them who never really put them to the test :P

Nah I kid. Most Japanese cars are hard to break. Enjoy it!

I do have some advice though. Now that you have your own care, please don't use it too easily. I know it's tempting to take the car everywhere... Personally I make a point of not using the car if I can get there in other ways, by foot, bike or public transport (well it's free for me) for example. Saves your wallet, your health and heck even the environment if you care about that jazz.

I can think of a slightly different demographic (of which I hope I'm not a part, though I do drive my Civic in somewhat of a...fun...way).

Judging by the responses, I guess I can feel pretty comfortable with my purchase.

I'm sure I'll feel the kick in the jeans via price-of-gas when I get greedy with my driving, hey?
