I'd have to agree. My first Dredg Album was El Cielo and it blew me away 7 years ago. I did buy the new one but it just ain't that great. Back then their songs were huge and mind blowing. Can't say that about the new material :(

Agreed, it's totally not a patch on El Cielo...when I first heard it I wasn't too pleased but it has grown on me as a great poppy album

ok i didnt know what to think of the new living colour album listening to it on speakers. it didnt sound too energetic, but in headphones at high volume its an amazing album. alot slower paced than their other albums. sweet album. im giving it my number 3 spot :) so its

1. Devin Townsend Project - Ki
2. Jesu - Infinity
3. Living Colour - The Chair In The Doorway
4. Sepultura - A-Lex
5. Heaven & Hell - The Devil You Know
6. Raekwon - Only Built For Cuban Linx 2

Highlights:

Devin Townsend: Ki
Mr. Big: Back to Budokan ( even tough it's not released yet, i was at the reunion tour:P!)
Dethklok: Dethalbum 2

Can't realley say much about the disapointments.

Still to come!
Nile: Those Whom the Gods Detest.
Immortal: All Shall Fall
Nevermore: The Obsidian Conspiracy
Devin Townsend: Adicted
(new Finntroll perhaps?)

Don't know about Evangelion yet.
I think i need to give it a couple more of listens.

New Nile is one of their best to date without a doubt, the only problem I have with it is that there are no slow, broodingly heavy songs like on In Their Darkened Shrines and such.

Good 2009 albums I've heard:

Devin Townsend Project - Ki
Parade - The Fabric
Latitudes - Agonist
Shining - Klagopsalmer
Porcupine Tree - The Incident
Muse - The Resistance
Mew - No More Stories...
Amesoeurs - Amesoeurs

I may have missed something, but these I liked more or less.

ok i snapped and downloaded it....its great, like a return to Annihilation of the Wicked but with more interludes. There're songs on there about Islam (Kafir!), the Hittites, and others...this album is pretty original.

Best of the year:

Kalisia - Cybion (check it out, pretty incredible progressive death metal)
Amorphis - Skyforger
Devin Townsend Project - Ki
Sarke - Vorunah
Hypocrisy - Extreme Taste of Divinity
Megadeth - Endgame

Nile is definitely great too. They get better and better with every release. Never a disappointment.

Immortal though... not sure. I really really want to enjoy it but I have only managed to hear a couple of songs before having to change it. I'll eventually give it a full listen....
