Hello peeps. I've been an SYL fan since late middle school/early high school, but never knew of Devin's other work until a few years ago after stumbling across DTB's MySpace. Just recently though I've been delving into his "OTHER" other projects like Biomech, Ziltoid, etc, and am still punching myself in the face for not listening sooner.

As far as general things about me go, I'm currently a guitar major in my sophomore year pursuing a career in audio production/recording/engineering. I've been strumming for 2 years, and I started drumming almost 8 years ago. I'm pretty much a guitar player trapped in a drummer's body, haha. I am by no means the best at either instrument, but I enjoy playing them nonetheless. I've been a huge metal fan since middle school. My taste has varied greatly since then, but now I'm into most of it's sub-genres, right now particularly tech death, prog, a little black (particularly the "dark ambient" stuff, as some would call it. For example, Agalloch), melodic death, and folk/viking metal. Some of my current favorites include Ensiferum, Obscura, Eluveitie, Finntroll, Meshuggah, Wintersun, Moonsorrow, Opeth, Tyr, Turisas, Necrophagist, Anata, Ayreon, Cynic, Death, Dream Theater, Kalmah, and many many more. Some of my favorite individual musicians include Devin (of course), Jari Maenpaa, Thomas Haake, Frederik Thordendal, Jeff Loomis, Heri Joensen, Mikael Akerfeldt, Petri Lindroos, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and a lot more. I'm also a bit of a classical n00b, but I really enjoy it's musical qualities (hey, at least I'm honest, right?). I'm taking classical guitar lessons at school and it's opening lots of creative doors for me...

Other than that, I fiddle around with bass and piano every now and then and am taking voice lessons. As I mentioned earlier, I'm pursuing a career in audio production, mainly because of Devin and a slew of others. I've only worked in a studio once for one song, but back then I had absolutely no idea what I was doing other than merely recording my song, haha. I'm still a bit n00bish in production, but I have a basic idea now about the hardware and what it does, as well as the software, but am by no means an expert.

I look forward to posting here! I'm glad I stumbled upon this here place!

Hi, my name is Erwin Im french and a very huge fan since 1999. very happy to be here. Sorry for my english, have mercy!
Ive seen devin 3 times live, both times in Paris at "le divvan du monde" very good show... The second time my voice kinda crashed during "regulator"...
Devin is the best musician of our time, incredible voice, great guitar player. As a musician, great respect. as an artist, he's not from this planet..... My son 6 years old likes devin since he is 3, he loves ziltoid , he often asks for it in the car and even if he doesnt speaks english, he knows the whole story ....
that's it , hope to have good times with all of you, and maybe cross the path of Dev and Tracy from time to time. :D

How do folks.

I'm Justin from Mississippi and obviously I'm a Devin Townsend fan. :D

Friend of mine linked me to 2 songs from Ziltoid and it kinda just snow balled into this huge musical obsession.

Ended up downloading a lot of the stuff and once I realized how much I loved it I went to Amazon.com and just started grabbing up all the albums I could.

:D

Nothing wrong with a little bit of biography. It's what this thread is for after all. :)

And yes, Welcome again new people.
