Ok, heres one....when you said "well over 250 tracks" for this album, did you mean literally that many individual tracks? Or TAKES within the tracks? That sounds like alot...you would need some hella ram, memory and space. If so, my kudos to you! Sounds like a fucking headache.

Also, when you get to the vocal tracking stage, do you just use a stereo mixdown of the song in a new project file...then track vox on top of that? or do you do it IN the mix? I usually have to use a stereo mixdown in another project file to save ram.

Thanx dude.

Don't they though? They're those mesh ones right?! :D They look a lot better in grey than the turquoise ones I had *_*

It almost looks like Devin's wearing a onesie in the second pic- which is extremely manly, regardless of what others think. :)

Check them shorts! I've seen better legs hangin' out of a nest!

Whoa! I can barely distinguish you from that white background! Wait, I can actually SEE the white background through your legs! Translucence! You must teach me this trick...

the_s_rabbit wrote:$30 for Blotted Science's album? Can't you just get it from Ron's site directly?

I love that album. The last two tracks are my favorite, the second one being the reverse of the first. Andenosine Buildup and Andenosine Breakdown I think are the names of those tracks. Now I have to listen to it.

:guitar:

Definitely one of the better albums I have ever purchased. $30 is all encompassing, shipping, currency conversion et. al. Canada is not US made friendly when it comes to music.

Pretty sure he means actual tracks within Pro Tools. Each recorded "part" is probably on expanded to several different "tracks". The first track being the original dry track. Then you do layering and effects with all the other tracks. You split them up into so many different tracks so you can have maybe a single effect on each individual track, rather than just taking a track and trying to put a shitload of effects on that one single track. So. If you have a lead vocal and maybe 3 backing vocal parts going on at the same time, then say you have 8 tracks per vocal part = 32 total tracks. And you might decide to record different parts of the lead vocal on different "tracks", where traditionally the lead vocal would just be on a single track. What I'm trying to say is, a single track may not last the duration of the song. You could put each verse on its own track, and then have it expanded to multiple tracks for effects and shit like I said before. That's just a SWAG. I don't record professionally, but I have a friend who sort of does music semi-professionally and when he records that's generally what he does...probably not anywhere near 250 though!

Meshuggah rocks!! (I'm listening to them right now). Obzen is indeed a step forward.

Hey I actually do have a question for you though. I've been drinking more tea lately. Do you have any tea recommendations? This question is for everyone.
