Oh, you're dirty.

Maybe. Maybe maybe maybe I'm overreacting but that there... that is by far and away the most blatantly idiotic thing I have EVER read on this forum. Good job, you utter moron. Saying "Not to sound like" doesn't make you not sound like an impatient piece of shit. You do. Trust me. And if you hate downloading so much you wouldn't ask for a download. And yeah, it is a couple of months. Maybe two at most. I'm sure that wait won't kill you. And I'd be pretty sure Devin wants to SELL albums. He's an artist, this is what he does fucking feed himself, his wife and his kid. Sure he probably wants as many people to hear it as possible, but ideally, for everyone to pay for what they're hearing. It's released when it's released, and yeah, we all know it'll leak before the CD drops, but asking the band to leak it on purpose on the guys own fucking forum? You must be logically defective.
Again, maybe overreacting. But I don't care. That pissed me off. Have some fucking respect. Jesus.

Hello to eveyone! This is my first post to this forum and I know this english that I spell in here is...same like watching cows flying. Today in first time I loved Ki album. It was very hard to get inside it. But on this new album (Addicted) ... I dont like Dev doing some easy mainstream songs. Okey they will be very good and groovy and fantastic and "loistavia" but I just dont want it to be too easy. That when you have listened it once...you know all what there is. Ou gaad ai hav tis veri kuud inglishh!!
My 2 cents. Let's not waste another word on it please?

Yeah, downloading bums me out. Hard, but it can't be helped...and if an artist ever says he's against it, a legion of people tear your head off telling you about the fans 'rights'.
So to be clear, I can't stop it, so I don't try...but after 4 months of soul crushing work, to have it downloaded 2 months in advance, and sell 800 copies in the first week, and then have people tell me 2 months in advance all the problems with it pretty much takes the wind out of my sails. I'm just saying...but you know, it's a forum so you can state what you want.
Just need to clarify.
And in terms of it being too easy, sure for some folks it will be. And Ki was too quiet, and Deconstruction is to chaotic, and the 4th one is too acoustic.
Maybe this dtp teaches me once and for all that you can't please everyone, 'to thine own self be true.'
I'll keep busting my ass because I think the music I'm privileged enough to make is worth people hearing, download it if you're gonna, I don't know what else to say.

GOD DAMN N00BS.
I jest. C'mere, there's a topic there for all the intro trivialities: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1748
Nevertheless, welcome to the nuthouse!

NOW GET BACK ON TOPIC.

Exactly.
The Dev wrote:Maybe this dtp teaches me once and for all that you can't please everyone, 'to thine own self be true.'
Exactly!
Dev, you can't please everyone, don't try, it'll never happen. Just do what you do for yourself, if other people happen to like it, then cool. I happen to like it.
Anyone who busted out 2 months before Ki was released on this forum talking about it is kinda lame. You know Dev posts and reads his own forum, it's a slap in the face to the work he's done. Yeah music is made to be heard, but you wouldn't steal food out of his mouth, would you?

It's sad but true: It is not possible to make a music piece that everyone would like.
And more people should buy Devin albums...
And yeah, I'm saying this without even owning all his stuff... Oh, the irony... But I'm getting there! (He's just releasing albums too fast for me to keep up!
)

I know i'm getting more into this subject despite you people don't want to talk about it anymore, but i got to say, i'll feel like shit downloading the album if it's leaked right know, because of Townsend's studio chronicles that has been given since he was making the album, like "tired.... 3 am and still here" or things like that. I couldn't resist downloading Ki 'cause 2 years without THE music were too much, but in this case...
Sing and rejoice
Out of interest Devy, how many copies do you need to sell to live comfortably as a professional musician? 800 copies isn't much compared an artist like Tool, but you did sound happy with it on the D'Addario sessions.
Dev like you said in that interview for d'addario, the one thing we share is our perspective, but everyones perspective is diffrent so what is right for some isnt right for another, people listen to you because they want to hear what your perspective is not what you think other peoples perspectives are. I hope this makes sense, ive been drinking lol

I detected sarcasm when he said he was happy with that, but who knows.
