The only problem I had with the Motion clip was that the vocalist didn't sound like he was giving it his all. Like he was holding back and afraid to let it all out. I bet if you could get him to open up, feel comfortable with the howling clean vocals like in the Furor clip he would probably sound just as good.

I agree...Bob was holding back a bit. We are still trying to feel out that damn verse....

No growls I'm afraid...but that is only because he hasn't tried them. This kind of music is new to him. He listens to Rush and Queensryche. I mean, I do to....but he is very uncultured, which is exciting....because his approach is totally original. He picked me up today, and what was he playing in the car? The Working Man tribute!! He had no idea who Devin was....he thought it was Sebastian Bach!!! hahahahaa.......WIN. So now I get to turn yet another person onto Dev's music!! I love those moments.

And he sounds similar to Devy just by chance? Wow.

What does he think of Devy's work and metal in general? Would be interesting to hear him try out some growls. Wonder what the results would sound like. I think it would be better if you had one person do both main cleans and growls rather than two seperate. Unless you could bring two singers together some how to make it work along with the theme/music. Sort of a story. But again, I am not sure exactly how the lyrical themes go with TOE.

So...Victor came over yesterday and laid down some rather Dennis DeYoung-ish verses on "Motion". It is giving me chills as we speak....

I wrote the first one with Jeremy Monday, then Jeremy laid guide vocals...and Victor replaced them cuz, well...he is a better singer lol. Then yesterday Victor and I wrote the second verse, and laid that down as well. He is coming over tomorrow to work on choirs...and wrap anything else up on Motion.

Bob is coming over after him to give some input on Motion, and work on Gift. Things are getting busy vocal-wise....and I am LOVING it.

I hear cool sounds and melodies, when listening to your music. Like I said before, the atmosphere is a pure cosmos.

Ugh....who knew trying to mix and master just one song on a deadline (tonight) would be so tough? I can't imagine what Devin is going through. Granted, we just got the last vocal take needed yesterday, so we are pushing it.

Oh, what am I talking about? "Motion" will be on a compilation called "The Apparatus" http://www.myspace.com/108954089 We have been trying to wrap it up for a bit now. Since getting Victor, we decided to replace Bob's verses with him, and wrote a bit more. The result is INSANELY cosmic (Van Pole), and TONS of vocals swirling around....I like it alot, and I can't imagine what the album end result will sound like. This is all good practice for that.

I am not sure if we will be posting it on the Myspace and such or not....I guess I don't see why not. Anyway, we master it tonight at my buddie's house, who has a kick ass mastering plug-in. We are cutting it close.
