When I went to school in San Francisco, I commuted via BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit - it's a train thing), and the cars were relatively empty since it wasn't during commuter hours. I'm sitting in this empty car, and out of all the seats on the train this random older dude sits next to me. It was kinda weird. Then he brings his legs up to his chest, and puts his coat over his legs - to form a little tent thing over his legs... if that makes any sense.

Part of his coat kind of fell on my leg, and I didn't really realize it until later. But this one area of my thigh was noticeably warm the whole ride :? Then I felt something move from under the coat that was on my thigh. Something moved and then slid off. I turned and I glared at this dude, and right away he got up and ran off the train at the next stop. I yelled "what the fuck" at him, but he was already gone. Then I realized that for a half an hour, his hand was on my thigh    :chain:

*sigh*

Sexual abuse is pretty bad supposedly on the BART.

Almost as bad as the problem with racist cops shooting non-resisting african-americans to death.

Many moons ago when I used to work for a big hardware chain (I've since left retail behind, thankfully), I used to work in the goods inwards area, unloading trucks and the like. One day a semi-trailer truck pulled in and the driver hopped out of his cab. Would have been in his late 40s, short, wiry, balding and Mediterranean in appearance. Pretty rough looking, but nothing too unusual for a truckie.

After saying g'day and handing me his consignment note, he wandered over to the side of the trailer and, as he began unclipping the side curtain, asked me "Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo... do yooou like toooo... sniff and lick de pooossy?" and made a two fingered poking gesture, then sniffed his fingers and waggled his eybrows at me. My mouth dropped open like a stunned mullet and I said something along the lines of "er... um..." To which he replied "I loooove to sneeff de pooooossy" as he grinned and me. I just shrugged and walked away.

WTF man, just... WTF!?

I've worked in transport for 7 years and this story does not surprise me at all

OT bus story- I heard a pretty disturbing conversation between youths on the bus the other night. I must have been sheltered at 13, because my friends sister wasn't doing ice and giving me blowjobs.

Ugh, you heard about that then, eh? BART isn't usually that bad - it's no picnic though.

Oh! One more thing - I was coming back from a concert with my brother some time ago on BART, it was late, one of the last running trains. Some big dude sits next to us and keeps asking if my name is Julie. Then he said I looked exactly like his ex-wife, Julie. I think I was 19 or 20 at the time, and he was middle-aged... so I don't know what to make of that.
He just insisted that I was Julie, or her clone. :|

No, racism is pretty abundant in Oakland.

And everywhere.

This is fucked up. I'm no anarchist but this is everything wrong with authority.
This piece of shit had better be rotting in prison, only a cop could get away with murder when he deserves to be lynched by the crowd.

He's not getting away... for once. The internet and technology made sure of that.

However, a lot of cops get away with a lot of dirty things. In a department, there might be 15 cops. Maybe 4 of them are clean. They won't say anything about the dirty ones, though, for fear of losing their job. It's a VERY corrupt system.

There's good there's bad... I don't think Oakland is has the highest murder rate in California right now though (cool), I think it was surpassed by Richmond; I don't want to give these places a bad rap though, there really are good parts here.

Oh you know what? I've been to Chicago twice, Islands :) Only passing through to Michigan but it was a nice place. I was in Cicero only - I ate at this pizza place callllleeeeddd Vinnie's, I believe. Chicago really does have good pizza for reals.

And the kind of cold/wind combination that makes you think you're going to lose your ears any second.

The key to staying warm is to be very very rude to each other.

Oh yeah I remember the wind was vicious, well IMO anyways. It probably wasn't all that bad if you're used to it.
Hmmm.... rudeness? I don't know if I could survivethe rudeness :o But then again, I could go across the bay, and be unphased by some guy walking around in ass-less chaps. What has been seen, can not be unseen
And if I stay on this side of the bay, I can see some guy wearing his pants so low, that they actually fell off - and he wasn't wearing underwear apparently. Yes that really happened =/

Up here in Yorkshire a monthly bus ticket is £77 on ye olde Arriva. Which you need to get anywhere really as it's 8-15 miles to each area of civilisation. And a train to Kings Cross from say, York (return) is again, £77 at the cheapest.

Luckily I don't have to commute as my local Argos is literally 50yrds away from my flat. I have done it, setting off from Goole to Selby at 6am, then change bus through to York to get in for 9am, then back. A four and a half hour round trip.
