Textures - To Erase A Lifetime

Yes, it's still amazing. I'm thinking about sitting down and figuring this beast out on guitar, shouldnt be too hard since it's mostly just power chords and what not. We'll see though.

Just gave this song a spin. Not bad at all. A friend of mine recommended Textures and gave me a bunch of songs but I hadn't given it a shot yet. Now is about the time.

Tyr - Hold the Heathen Hammer High

I listened to this album for the first time when I woke up a couple hours ago. Listened to it again when I was doing my cardio. Now I am listening to it again. Third time this morning. :guitar:

If I had to make "convince un-metal people metal isn't all what-you-usually-imagine-as-metal" compilation I'd put that one on the first track. What a fantastic song, everything is in right proportion in it. None of guitarey cock swinging, just groove, excellent singing and übersubtle usage of synths. Amount of win in it is almost unbearable.

I nicked two songs from Sybreed's latest iTunes-exclusive EP (don't plan to install iTunes on my PC, so I'd have to redeem myself by ordering T-shirt I guess). Songs are "A.E.O.N" and "Human Black Box". Usual Sybreed quality, with maybe bit more crazy rhythms (how do they learn to play notes in such awkward places?). Funny thing, their new stuff is produced by Rhys Fulber, and it actually sounds worse (in my opinion of course) than their own-mixed albums, kinda more flat.

Haha, Drop is such a ridiculous guitarist. He has a grasp on rhythm that not many people have. Dude my not play uber-tech riffs or Jeff Loomis style solos, but he's a better guitarist than a lot of people.

And thanks for saying something about that EP, I'm gonna have to find it.

Hey yo, after reading your/BrunoN's descriptions, I went on youtube and gave them a listen - and at first I really liked it. I was really grooving on it and had high hopes. Then around 2:52 *facepalm* and I swear it's not because I hate the screaming (or else I wouldn't be a Townsend fan) BUT... I just didn't like his particular sound :( I just couldn't do it. But I did try it out, and I liked what I heard in the beginning. The music itself was win, I give them that - super chunky. Just an FYI that I gave it spin.

Yup, Erik's screams are pretty generic metal-something-core affair, but I'll forgive him anything for his awesome clean voice. He stands between The Dev and Mikael Akerfeldt in my personal vocalists' chart.

This guy gives their music ton of life (which is pretty important since djent is by nature rather mechanically sounding genre).

Yeah dude, I was totally grooving on that - and then he screams  :( I was really trying to like the vocals, but it's just something about his screaming :( I mean, Townsend does that kind of thing all the time, and I love it - but maybe it's one of those things that you have to get used to. Lord knows it's taken me a long time to appreciate Meshuggah vocals, and sometimes I still find it grating after a while. But I'll keep trying with this one - I really liked the djents  Those were some fine djents, indeed! However, I must say he has an incredible singing voice, like, really beautiful. That much was stunning.

I 100% agree with Cat and her face. His clean singing is fantastic, but I just can't stand his screamo vocals.
