Hello there ladys, gents, and anything in between!

The name is Taylor. I'm 15, live in Edmonton, Alberta, and I'm quite a fan of good Sir Townsend and SYL. Now it's time for a long, boring self-description.

Actually, the description won't be too long seeing as how I have no life. I spend a good 60% of my average day (not counting sleeping) indoors, be it on the computer or playing video games. I'm a bit of a music buff. I have a spot in my heart for every kind of music, with heavy metal taking the biggest spot. I also play music. I'm currently the drummer in a melodic death metal band called Vyralisk, though I'm quitting at the end of summer to hopefully do something more interesting. Probably guitar related. I guess I'm also a tiny bit of a movie buff as well, though I'm still in the whole entry level form of things.

Well, I'm very glad I found this here forum and I intend to stay for as long as I can bother. If you don't like it, DEAL WITH IT.

Hi everybody. I got here when I heard on another forum that Devin's getting an Axe-FX and wanted some tips. I've had one since 2007, so I figured i might help. Then I got stuck in reading up and felt this is a very nice forum. I'm sure it'll be one of the five regular forums I'll check on a regular basis.

My name is Jocke Skog. I've been playing samples in Clawfinger since we made our first demo in 1990. We were lucky and sold a shitload of albums of the first try. Been living from this ever since, but been going more and more into the technical aspect of the whole recording, processing, mixing, mastering and performing process. After paying $50 000-60 000 each for our first three albums, learning a lot in the process, we decided to buy gear for 30 000 dollars and record our fourth album in 1998. The digital era was coming strong with the birth of the VST format in 1997 (96?), and that helped me a lot when I did my first clumsy attempts in guitar riffs. To make it listenable I learned to edit digital audio like a pro. Nowadays, I can do whatever I want with a DAW. Try me ;)

In 2000 we rented a place that was used as a project studio together with the band Meshuggah, that we've known since they were the support act back in 1995. The acoustics were terribly dry, so I started experimenting with Impulse Reverbs, and never looked back. When I heard that they were shutting down the Polar studios (Abba, Led Zeppelin, Genesis and many many more), I called them and went there the day before the actual demolition, and obtained room impulses from the Marble room, and the wooden room. We didn't have the best gear, but still. Anecdote.

I've also done FOH work and Light engineering. I actually did both FOH and lights for Meshuggah at the same gigs, when they forgot to call their FOH guy. It worked out well, so I continued to do so for a while back in Y2K. Fun times.

Today we still have the rehearsal place/studio that we named "Fear And Loathing Studios" (FALstudios). I work there when I have the time and money to do so. I also have two other part-time jobs with disabled people and as a technical consultant for a distribution company.

There you have it. Long post, but hopefully it's worth something to someone. :)

/Jocke

Nice dude! Welcome to the forums!

Meshuggah are pretty renowned around here. I know I'm a huge fan of them!

You will probably find a bit of fun in the Musician's corner forum also.

Clawfinger was MASSIVELY popular in 90s Poland, everyone and their dog listened to it :). Hi Jocke, I've seen band of yours in Warsaw in 2006, you were ace, especially bassist with his l33t Stage Dive of Death skillz.

Hey folks,

just thought I'd stop in here and give a little introduction. My name's Luke, but you can refer to me as Bigfoot. I just discovered Devin's music within the past year or so, both SYL and his solo albums, and I can say they have definitely had a huge impact on me. I have a pretty wide range of musical tastes (Devy is helping to expand that even further), and I also play a lot of music in my free time. I play Bass, Guitar, and Drums. I also do some vocals when I can, but I wouldn't really refer to myself as a singer. I'm looking forward to checking out what this forum has to offer and getting to know some of the cool cats that indulge themselves in the world of Hevy Devy. Oh yeah, and I can't wait to get my hands on Addicted!
