Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

I am looking at Snakes and Arrows on eBay. Thinking of ordering it. I would love to have it on vinyl but I'm not paying £46

Rush - 2112
Finally arrived yesterday. Didn't sound too good on the first listen but I'm confident it will open up to me over time.

Do you not have it, or you do, just not the vinyl? Well if you don't have it...

Buy it! You won't be disappointed. The sign of a good band, is that new material is as good as the classic stuff! I suppose Alucard isn't a fan of Vapor Trails, but it's one of my favorite - so since opinion is divided, you'll have to listen to it for yourself and come up with your own verdict! :D
Vapor Trails is the heaviest Rush album I can think of, so that might appeal to you.

I used to love PW back in the day--A Social Grace and Into the Everflow were killer albums (I never got too much into Mosquito or Bleeding, though they each have some appeal). It's worth mentioning to DsD, as I'm sure she jumps through hoops of internet research, that Mr. Graves went by the name Buddy Lackey during his Psychotic Waltz days. The only thing that would make PW "not as good" as Deadsoul Tribe would be production, in my opinion. Though, I haven't listened to either of those groups for a few years now...

The production was a bit shite for PW. However the songwriting for DST seems to flow better for me. Perhaps it's because Devon has more songwriting control.

But the first two PW albums are definitely the best. I wouldn't say that Mosquito or Bleeding are terrible, though.

Nothing I heard off Vapor Trails really caught my ear. So I never gave it a proper listen. Maybe I will one day.

Listening to Acacia strain, dig the art on the myspace, any one know what drug is derived from Acacia? I have a maidenii strain.

I started with Hemispheres and have collected vinyls of all the albums surrounding it but I am stuck. I love it so much I haven't bothered to move past into the late 80's and beyond. I have read reviews of the later albums and they just don't sound like my cup of tea so I have been keeping away.

Maybe it is time to jump into the fire. Any recommendations for the first album I should try from everything released after Moving Pictures? I am very interested.

The subsequent 3 after MP are absolute sensations. Signals, Grace Under Pressure and of course the almighty Power Windows. Treat yourself, you won't be disappointed. Ignore the reviews and the fans who just wanted them to make Moving Pictures or Hemispheres pt 2. Plus, a again it's quirky (especially Signals), non-instant gratification music so give them all several listens. It's the only way to appreciate a band like Rush.

AlucardXIX wrote:Test For Echo had some damn good songs. It's no 2112 or Hemispheres, but it had its songs.

Vapor Trails, no.

Snakes and Arrows is a great driving album.

I am a big Test for Echo fan, and it has my favorite Rush instrumental to date (Limbo). I'm surprised to see a good number of people who don't enjoy the album. Great stuff on the album...crushing riffs and enough of a prog vibe without coming off as forced (imho). 2112 is a legendary album, but I sometimes find that I enjoy the songs following 2112 (the song) more than 2112 itself. Hemispheres was top-notch, though..."La Villa Strangiato" is beyond epic. From what I've heard from Vapor Trails, nothings drawing me into buying the album. But who knows...maybe one day?

Snakes and Arrows is a beautiful album, and features some great grooves. I mean..."The Main Monkey Business?" Grandioso!

Fun stuff, love it

That reminds me, I stilll need to buy their album! Justin Hawkins is a true songsmith.

That reminds me, my friend Jon had a Rush cover band for a while, very true to Rush. 3 members, Jon played bass, sung, and did keys. Their name was Cygnals. I thought it was a DAMN good name for a Rush cover band, and they were really good themselves...minus the fact that their guitarist was pretty emotionless and was more interested in shredding than anything.
