Don't you love how the guy who wrote "Starship troopers" wrote THAT as well? :)

Yes.

Is there something weird about that?

In Stranger In a Strange Land, to "grok" something is a martian concept not fully understandable by us because we think in human terms. But it's basically understanding something to the point of absorbing it and becoming one with it. The catch is to do it objectively(?).

For example (maybe), most people on this message board can probably fully grok Devin Townsend's music in the sense that you can immerse yourself in it completely, ALL PERSONAL PHILOSOPHIES ASIDE. Then you may or may not choose to introduce your personal philosophies into it.

Get it? It's easier to grasp if you read the book (highly recommended).

Are you serious?

Yes, I'm serious. I believe there's life in other parts of the universe.

Not on all planets, but still we need knowledge that is kept from us in secret for better understanding.

And don't tell me there is no secrecy in the world, because some cases are never fully explained.
Dude you're driving me crazy here. One last time, do you believe that aliens have contacted us or that our "leaders" have evidence of life on another planets?

I'm not saying it definitely really happened, but, in the 'conspiracy' world, I'm pretty sure it was President Eisenhower that met some alien dudes at an airbase. That's probably the easiest reference to go looking for, if your curious.

There are three rules to The Game:
1. Everybody in the world who knows about The Game is playing The Game.
2. Whenever one thinks about The Game, one loses.
3. Losses must be announced to at least one person.

I just lost, and so did you.

Thank you so much for the advice everyone. I'm not going to reply to everything, but I've read all of it and it has honestly helped me with this problem of mine. I need to be grateful for the infinite wonders and amazing shit that I am aware of, and not spend my time dwelling on what I don't know. I've also been watching the Science Channel alot, that helps too somehow.

As for conspiracy theory shit, I think the government has some knowledge of extraterrestrial life, they're just being dicks and keeping it secret because they think the world can't handle it. I say fuck that, the world needs to accept it at some point, so why not now? What do you guys think goes on in Area 51? I've been reading a bunch of shit that supposed ex employees have written, but none of it really adds up. What do you all think goes on there? I personally believe there's some awesome technology, like laser guns or anti gravity or something.

Lol, I'll tell you what's going on at Area 51...NOTHING. They stopped using it years ago.

Or so they say...

I watched this show about Area 51 on discovery channel a couple summers ago -

it showed both sides of the whole issue. Some people think it's some "extraterrestrial high way" ( ) and that there are strange lights and sounds that come from there because the government is keeping top secret information there about extraterrestrials... all that kind of thing.

The logical side (IMO) showed is that it is or was just an army base that probably carried out it's army business as per usual. There's all this stuff about how they test out super secret, stealth aircraft that people mistake for UFO's.... like the "Aurora" ....I believe there was also something said about how people jump to conspiracy theory conclusions because the place is off-limits to the public. But isn't army army base?! If they had every Tom, Dick, and Abydost walking in there, that would be very problematic.
Hi Abydost. *waves!*

Anyways, I might not have all my facts straight, but that's as much as I can remember.

Then there's Roswell conspiracy theory... and that's a whole other can of worms
