Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

in all honesty i have never heard menos el oso, perhaps i should correct that

I know, but Minus the Bear ISNT metalcore! Lol, even though their name could warrant some kind of horribly shit metal spin off.

Minus the Bear IS the sort of thing you have to be in the mood to listen to (like indie). If you're not ready for some high notes to repeat like pseudo-chimes, it drives me up the wall. They're the sort of band who are a great soundtrack for just having a cigarette or two on the balcony overlooking the city (Planet of Ice).

Planet of Ice is so good, cant wait to hear their next album. I absolutely LOVE the song "Knights"

I actually very recently got into Minus The Bear, and while they have some songs that don't do anything for me ("Absinthe Party at the Warehouse"...not a fan), they have a lot of great material. Planet of Ice has a lot of stand out tracks, and Menos El Oso wasn't too shabby either. They do evoke a specific sound, coming off as spacey and all mystical like. But as with any band with a defined sound, it sort of seems to be their calling card. I can dig it.

The Alias remix of Pachuca Sunrise was awesome, if anyone hasn't heard it. It brought the tempo down, made the guitar work more subtle, and turned it into a more slow-danceable tune.

The more you listen to it the more you realize it's pretty much the next logical step for them. More refined, heavier, groovier, longer songs. It's a good album overall.

Such a good song.

I wish they would have just released this normally, I know it had to do with the record company and shit, but it would have worked so well after Tonight The Stars Revolt.

Could anyone recommend anything by Anathema that would be suitable for a noob?
I've read a bit about them on wiki, jeez they've really had a lot of band mates coming and going :o

Ew. Pybus.

In any case, input would be much appreciated - I'm thinking material more along the lines of the "progressive rock and atmospheric rock" as wiki puts it. I don't even know if I'll like it, but it's worth a try.
