At first, I was all kinds of like "...is this Tool?"

Yeah! I read about it on their blog hehe

Here's the link yall.

Ooh check out Colin Edwin! Those of you who thought he looked like a pedophile...( :? :chain:) fuck that, he looks like a total badass.

Bald and beautiful. Yes.

Whoa, I hear downtuning.

Yeah probably so, huh? But DAMN, look at Colin Edwin. I can't get over it, usually he's smiling sheepishly in the background, and wearing his trusty little cap....
They all look really awesome though, like they're ready to get down to bizness and play some wicked tunes :)

Since the newer CD's they've put out recently are the "popular" ones, I really hope they don't get type cast :(
Because they're one of the most versatile bands I've ever heard when considering their entire catalog. But please don't get me wrong, I love the newer chunky stuff to bits. Just making an observation.

I really doubt it, I mean, you heard Insurgentes which was experimental, ambient and just plain incredibly awesome. Or I may just be confused as to what "type cast" means. Actually I don't know what it means.

What I mean is that - in terms of Porcupine Tree, not really SW's work, because he really did branch out with Insurgentes - their newer material seems to be more popular.. perhaps that's because a lot of people are catching onto them since Deadwing or FoaBP came out... not everyone, but many.

And since those are the heavist CD's PT has done, I just have to wonder if expectations for the new album and all future albums will be for them to get progressively heavier and more metal. Heavy is good, I like what they do with it... and I'll like anything they do really  but getting type cast as a certain kind of band, or a certain genre is really sticky- if you continue in the same style, people might think that a band is rehashing the same material each time. If a band changes their direction or 'their sound,' audiences who have grown accustomed to a certain style will be disappointed and think they lost their magic.

Seems a lot of people really hated Damnation, because it was different - because there weren't any growls, and I guess that disappointed a lot of people. It's a shame when that happens with any good band, because there's no way to win... once in such a position.

Now, I know I'm speaking rather definitively, but just remember, these are only my opinions. I don't know shit  BUT, I do know: Audiences are fickle and will leave you behind in a second! I don't want to see that happen to any musicians I love.

And Island - EEEEFFFFFF YYYOOOOOOUUUUU!!! Awkward? Yes. Pedo? Not even a little. He looks kind of heavenly if you ask me - but I will try not to turn this conversation into a beauty contest

He always looks unsettling - he's a keyboard player! :D When I think of keyboard players, I think of wizard hats and capes!

Amen brotha. Summerland is on. Now I'm no drummer, but this CD has some of the most interesting percussion I've ever heard.

The drummer is from the band Indukti. They sound like Tool-fuse-Riverside.

As for me, right now it's the masterful Part The Second by maudlin of the Well.

Easily gets my vote for album of the year (sorry Devin.)
