Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

Porcupine Tree's new album teaser on Myspace. Not sure if it just covers the lone 55 minute song or if it includes those other few songs in the 7-minute preview, as well.

At first, I was all kinds of like "...is this Tool?"

The End of All Things To Come was a good album in my opinion, it had its songs that's for sure. Lost and Found on the other hand was not nearly as good. And The New Game was just very commercialized. They almost completely got rid of the slapping and crazy bass lines. The drummer is holding himself back. The only things stepping forward are the guitars and vocals. And he's almost done away with his screaming type vocals.

LD50 is light years ahead of every other Mudvayne album since, combined. It's a freak of an album, it's just so fucking DEEP. And complex. Lyrically, rhythmically and musically. Their subsequent albums sound like fairy floss by comparison. After a debut like that I would consider them to be one of the greatest musical disappointments on the planet. TEOATTC was kind of ok, and L&F is just a pathetic joke. I haven't even bothered with their latest, I'm so let down by them. And I'm not surprised they're nowhere near as big as they were after LD50. I barely knew they HAD a new album out until recently...

I listened to the whole new album today. And I have to say there are maybe 4 stand out tracks of the 11. Compared to their first 2 albums it's pretty sad. Lost and Found had about 2 good songs, the new one has maybe 4 like I said.

I am very let down by Mudvayne to be honest.

Yep, that band has LOST it.

And NOT found it again....

:-)

I saw them live on the L&F tour, and they even disappointed in a live sense. They played almost everything too slow, and they lacked the fire and intensity that I saw on the Live in Peoria DVD that I have (and love, and still watch sometimes. And which, incidently, was filmed on the LD50 tour!)

They also play everything, even old songs, in Drop C now. They tuned up a damn half step and it sounds kinda shit live now. I saw them one time live on a festival here and they were the headliners. It was a good show though the drummer was on a platform so high you couldnt see him hitting anything and the bassist just hung back most of the time...and I wanted to watch him play more than the guitarist! fuck. haha
